As Sean “P Diddy” Combs sits in a Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn New York jail cell awaiting trial for charges for prostitution, racketeering and sex trafficking in May 2025, the legendary music producer’s family is doing their best to keep it together. Despite having multiple efforts to have Combs released on bail denied the family is going on with their daily lives.
That includes twin daughters (whom he has with the late Kim Porter) cheering for their Sierra Canyon high school football team.
Daughters Jessie and D’Lila are in their senior years at the now-famous high school located in Chatsworth neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Last week son Christian “King” Combs and Diddy’s youngest daughter Love Combs (who’s 2) were spotted at the school’s football game in support of their sisters. Love’s mom, Dana Tran, brought the youngest of Diddy’s seven children to see her sisters perform.
Diddy’s Family Staying Close
Ever since Diddy’s arrest in September, his children has been seen together quite often. In many ways this is nothing new as they could be seen together regularly prior to their legendary dad being taken into custody. Following his arrest they pinned this heartfelt message to their “I Need A Girl” rapper father.
“Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media,” the siblings continued. “We stand united, supporting you every step of the way.
“We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family,” they concluded. “WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.”
Diddy’s offspring which includes his adopted son Quincy (son of singer Al B. Sure and the late Kim Porter) whom Diddy also shares the aforementioned Christian and the twins with is standing by him. That means being there for one another amidst the firestorm of allegations and accusations he’s facing.
Diddy Spends 55th Birthday In Jail
Known for extravagant and lavish parties, on Nov. 4 Diddy spent his 55th birthday behind bars. This one pales in comparison to his 50th birthday celebration in 2019 which was celebrated with a party at his Beverly Hills mansion that included many A-list guests.
His 55th birthday party was sure to be his most epic ever before his incarceration turned his life upside down.
This time Diddy ate a meal that consisted of the following …
Cereal, breakfast cake, and skim milk for breakfast. For lunch, he had pasta with marinara sauce, meatballs or chickpea marinara, a garden salad, whole wheat bread, fruit, and a beverage. Dinner options were chicken or tofu fried rice with black beans and carrots.
And he was granted the opportunity to talk with his children via a phone call.
Jake Paul has built himself quite an enterprise with an estimated net worth of around $80 million as he’s risen from broke YouTuber to world famous celebrity who defeated legendary Iron Mike Tyson in front of millions of viewers with an eight-round decision on Saturday night.
Paul and his brother Logan, a WWE star, have carved their own unconventional paths to success, usually riding strategies and business moves that some would describe as shameless or politically incorrect. Like boxing a 58-year-old man, regardless of who he was back in the 1980s.
Or signing Haliey Welch, aka The Hawk Tuah girl, to his media company. She shot to notoriety with a viral street interview, where she offered a phrase in reference to oral sex that immediately elevated her to legendary status in the land of the very blond and very stupid. A place where Jake Paul has sowed his entrepreneurial oats and gained a massive following.
‘She proceeded to explain that “You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang” in her thick Southern accent.
Since that infamous viral video, her Instagram account has blown up, amassing over 2.5 million followers on Instagram. With her newfound celebrity, based on a pretty raunchy rise to fame, several celebrities have reportedly slid into her DMs to test the legend, including UFC star Sean O’Malley, who was reportedly putting on a full-court press, messaging her “all week” at one point.
Welch has her own podcast called ”Talk Tuah,” with the YouTube channel boasting 171,000 subscribers and over 7 million views. She has a whole host of guests.
In episode 10 of ”Talk Tuah,” Welch finally revealed the identity of her boyfriend “Pookie.” Her 22-year-old boyfriend, who goes by the name Kelby Blackwell, joined the show to discuss their relationship.
Blackwell let it be known that he isn’t cool with celebrities trying to get at his girlfriend, but his reaction “Depends on the person and what they say,” Blackwell said.
“I’m a very jealous person. … what’s mine is mine,” he said, also admitting that he takes exception to her texting back to people who she meets online.
Welch and her boyfriend speak on the latest episode of “Talk Tuah.”
Pookie addressed some misconceptions about their relationship:
“So last year I was actually in a relationship for right around two and a half years,” he said. “Nobody knows that, of course, because Haliey did not bring that up, so everybody just thinks I’m a sorry sack of sh*t.”
“We broke up, I think, last March, and it was just kind of like a dirty breakup,” Pookie continued. “So, the last couple months after that before I started actually, like, considering Haliey, I was more working on myself and working on like being able to bring her what she needed for herself to where I didn’t want to bring the hurt on to her.”
He also shot holes at the fans and suitors who accused him of going public with Haliey once she became famous.
“You can believe what you want at the end of the day, I mean I know what I feel in my heart and that I love Haliey so like that’s just that,” he added.
Welch is a classic case study in the unexpected rise to fame that social media creates daily for people willing to say and do outlandish things. Jake Paul is a pioneer in the social media come up. How content, timing, and the willingness to put yourself out there regardless of what anyone says and embrace it can lead to unthinkable achievements.
Win or lose, Paul was getting a huge bag reportedly in the neighborhood of $40 million, which is double Tyson’s purse. He’s the new age renegade, masterfully building wealth and taking some other born losers along for the ride. And it comes with all the shenanigans.
As the pair went nose-to-nose, “Iron Mike” hooked off on Paul with a slap heard around the world. He connected with Jake’s jaw and prompted several security guards to separate the two men. Apparently, Tyson was unhappy as his foot had accidentally been stepped on when Paul awkwardly crawled up to Mike and got too close when he stood up.
Logan Paul, who has fought legend Floyd Mayweather, believed Tyson miscalculated by attacking his little brother and making their fight personal.
“My brother got slapped by Mike Tyson, f****** iconic,” he tweeted.
“But a grave error This fight just became personal for Jake Tomorrow’s outcome will be utter devastation for Mike; the new face of boxing will be crowned tomorrow.”
Tyson was able to win the first two rounds, but looked clearly exhausted after just two minutes of action. It was all Jake Paul from there as He out-punched the legendary champion, who at 58 was just too old.
Social media was very disappointed in the results and Tyson’s performance. Many wanted something that they were never going to get.
Magic Johnson had to cut the fight off. He couldn’t stand seeing Mike in that capacity.
The Paul brothers have built a kingdom of drama and shock entertainment, and when it comes to pushing the limits no one is a better teacher than Mike Tyson.
Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink is known for scoring, rebounds and blocked shots. The 2024 No. 2 overall pick behind Indiana’s Caitlin Clark is currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered in June. In the meantime, the former Stanford Cardinal legend is trying her hand in swimsuit modeling as a member of the SI Swimsuit edition lineup.
Tuesday the magazine revealed its lineup of young trailblazing female athletes who’ll also grace the magazine along with Brink, and they include Olympic gold medal-winning gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee plus Olympic gold medal-winning track and field athlete Gabby Thomas. SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day released a statement about the lineup.
“We are thrilled to launch our shoot season for the 2025 issue with an extraordinary lineup of powerful female athletes. This remarkable group, featuring Olympic medalists, world champions, and record holders, embodies the next generation of all-stars poised to transform the world of sports. They defy stereotypes and champion equality, inspiring young girls to envision themselves as both athletes and leaders. At SI Swimsuit, we’ve always celebrated the future of women, and there’s no better way to honor these remarkable achievements than by featuring them on the pages of our issue.”
Brink Spoke Of Opportunity In May, But Angel Reese Can’t Wear Bathing Suit
During a May appearance on the “Podcast P with Paul George” Brink mentioned the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue as a publication that she’d like to work with.
“I’ve always loved it. I think it’s super empowering. What a cool opportunity to step outside your comfort zone.”
While Brink is getting her opportunity to shine in the magazine, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been criticized for wearing a bathing suit among, other revealing outfits. Many fans say her outfit choices have “cheapened her brand,” while Reese says it has in no way, shape or form hurt her brand at all.
Back in June, Brink gave a very candid answer about the marketing advantages of her being white in a predominantly Black league.
The Los Angeles Sparks forward expressed in an interview with Uproxx, that she’s looking to extend that impact beyond the numbers, hoping to play a part in breaking the “younger white” privilege in the league.
“I could go way deeper into this, but I would just say growing the fan base to support all types of players,” Brink said. “I will acknowledge there’s a privilege for the younger white players of the league. That’s not always true, but there is a privilege that we have inherently, and the privilege of appearing feminine. Some of my teammates are more masculine. Some of my teammates go by they/them pronouns. I want to bring more acceptance to that and not just have people support us because of the way that we look.”
Brink Lets It Be Known That Basketball Is Not Her Endgame
Following her season-ending injury Brink withdrew from the Paris Olympics 3X3 women’s basketball tourney and made sure to let everyone know this is not the end for her.
“I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work everyday to get back to it,” Brink said on June 19. “It’s not goodbye basketball it’s just a see you later. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers.”
Expect a huge bounce-back season on the hardwood for Brink next year. That, with the release of the swimsuit issue scheduled for May, is definitely something to look forward to.
After LeBron James dropped his third-straight double double in a 128-123 win over Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, the hosts of ‘Speak’ were in awe of the ageless wonder and what he’s done in the absence of Anthony Davis.
Keyshawn Johnson, Joy Taylor and Paul Pierce discussed whether or not LeBron was carrying too much of a load, too early in the season for the 7-4 Lakers. Sure, he looks like a 25-year-old 11 games into the season, but will he be able to play 70 to 80 games at this pace? That’s what it will take for the Lakers to remain in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference as the season progresses.
“It’s ridiculous watching this grown old man still dominate these young boys. It’s ridiculous,” Paul Pierce said. “We got to give him a new name. Mr Miyagi. He’s the Mr. Miyagi of the NBA”
Keyshawn offered his own new nickname for LeBron, Benjamin Button.
Pierce’s new nickname for LeBron comes from the movie series “The Karate Kid.” Mr. Miyagi is a character portrayed by Pat Morita (RIP) who appeared in “The Karate Kid” (1984), “The Karate Kid Part II” (1986), “The Karate Kid Part III” (1989), and “The Next Karate Kid” (1994). He was a sagacious Okinawan-born karate master who mentors Daniel LaRusso in the original trilogy.
The elderly Mr. Miyagi had the strength of a bull and could easily defeat opponents half his age with skill, intelligence and experience. He proved to be a valuable teacher.
Pierce credits LeBron’s nutrition and work ethic for his ability to perform at his level in his advanced age
“I don’t think he’s carrying too much of a load,” said Pierce, expressing confidence in James’ ability to maintain this MVP pace.
“That’s just who LeBron is. You put him on the court and give him the minutes, he’s going to be productive. You’re talking about a guy who consistently said over the years if you young guys are listening, who invests in his body, invests in his training. This is the result of it and you see it even at the age of 39, soon to be 40 next month.”
Social Media Shocked Pierce Said Something Positive About LeBron: Stroking The King’s Ego?
For once, Pierce left the fans pretty much speechless because he’s developed a reputation as a LeBron hater for past comments claiming that he could have accomplished similar things if he played in this era of wild wild west free agency and player empowerment.
Under a clip of the segment, one X user, who apparently wasn’t a huge LeBron fan, seemed upset that Pierce gave the four-time NBA champion so much praise.
“You know that man is gassed to the gills Paul, why are we doing this?”
Another asked, “Is this the first nice thing PP has said about Lebron?”
Paul Pierce needed to say something to put some life into the show. It doesn’t seem to have resonated greatly with the sports viewership ever since the station revamped its lineup after Skip Bayless’ departure. One publication said “Speak” is a show that “now features three flameouts from rival networks around Taylor.”
Don’t know about that, but three straight double-doubles at the age of 39 is definitely impressive. While his son Bronny tries to make a name for himself traveling between the G-League and the Lakers, pops’ shadow continues to get bigger and bigger.
RELATED: LeBron James Continues To Post Historic Numbers: NBA GOAT Debate Ends With This Top 5 All-Time List
It’s to the point where Bron, King James, LeThanos, The GOAT, or whatever name you have called him over the years, requires a new nickname for his new journey.
Mr. Miyagi kind of fits the bill.
We saw this coming. Even after rookie Caleb Williams threw four TD passes in a Week 6 win to lift Chicago to a 4-2 record, history wasn’t on the former USC quarterback’s side. The culture of the Chicago Bears, no matter who you bring in at GM or head coach, it seems, remains stuck in the past when it comes to quarterback development. The football gods just won’t let them settle at the position.
Williams looked destined to be the first 4,000-yard passer in Bears history and the sky was the limit. Then, just that quickly, Williams looked lost in the sauce during this three-game losing streak, during which he’s thrown 0 TD passes. Matt Eberflus went from the right guy to being in line to become the third head coach to get fired this season.
What the heck happened?
Rookie quarterbacks are going to have their ups and downs, but did Williams get too cocky too soon? Was there drama behind the scenes within the Bears organization? Or is this just part of the journey and everybody needs to relax?
According to Adam Schefter on ESPN’s ”Get Up,” his sources tell him that the Bears were considering benching the No. 1 overall pick, who is off to a respectable 4-5 start in his rookie season but has entered the dark days lately.
If true, it’s all the signs of a dysfunctional organization panic. Negative reports that should be in-house leaking out into the public, showing a lack of support for another guy you said you were sure would be the franchise quarterback.
“There were conversations about whether one of the solutions was to bench the quarterback, but to bench him to give him a break to save him from himself,” Schefter said.
Schefter’s report made NFL commentator Dan Orlovsky furious, and he let loose on the Bears for their janky handling of this minor setback for Williams.
“This is an utter disaster. How about Chicago… You coach him? Instead of throwing him to the side and sweeping the problem under the rug,” Orlovsky pleaded.
He continued: “Chicago thinks they’re dating Caleb Williams. You’re married to him!”
Orlovsky explained how the Bears’ handling of Williams doesn’t make sense because they passed on Bryce Young and CJ Stroud in the previous draft “because they really wanted Caleb Williams.”
They rebuilt the roster with a ton of talent then draft Williams and “as soon as adversity hits,” Orlosky said, Chicago starts to bail on their anointed savior.
He added: “It’s like well we will push you over here and you don’t matter anymore because the other stuff is more important? You’re married to him guys. When the going gets tough the tough gets going… Who’s tough in the building? You coach him through his stuff. You say we’re going to get through this together. Coach him. Develop him, figure out how to get him to play better.”
Co-host Mike Greenberg got in on the Bears bashing.
“They have fired two offensive coordinates in this offensive in the last calendar year,” Greenberg said. They don’t know how to coach people or develop people. They always get it wrong.”
Chicago is known as the land of quarterback killers. When Jay Cutler and Jim McMahon are the two winningest signal callers in your franchise’s history, that really says it all. Jim Harbaugh was decent. Mitchell Trubisky never had a chance. Rex Grossman got lucky one season. Kyle Orton and the like. No elite QBs in the bunch.
Williams was supposed to change that. Every season a new QB is touted as generational, and they fall short. Mike Greenberg used this very example to inadvertently throw support for Deion Sanders’ recent controversial statement about stepping in and having a say about where his QB son Shedeur Sanders is drafted.
“This Is the reason (Caleb Williams) didn’t want to be there,” Greenie added. “Everybody in Chicago yelled at me. … This is why quarterbacks should be less concerned with what number they are drafted versus where they end up.”
The honeymoon is over. Welcome to Chicago, Caleb Williams.
The drama surrounding the highly anticipated Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight on Friday night has reached a fever peak. Despite whispers that this fight between the 27-year-old YouTube sensation and 58-year-old grandfather Iron Mike Tyson is more theater and a reality TV kind of revenue-generating ploy, hundreds of thousands, maybe millions are expected to tune into Netflix to catch this one-time-only moment in entertainment and boxing history.
The fight is a sanctioned fight, so it will count on each fighter’s professional record and Tyson told everyone months ago he wasn’t trying to use head gear, despite warnings that he could be leaving himself open to a traumatic brain injury. Some people have gone as far as to say that the results are already predetermined.
Jake Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian has struck back at critics who insist the bout is a “fix.”
Boxing fans have been sharing various conspiracy theories about Friday’s fight and former world champion Carl Froch didn’t pull any punches when he insisted that the fight is already fixed, which of course could affect the interest in the fight if people think Paul is getting a reported $40 million and Tyson $20 million for an eight-round acting performance.
“I’ve heard and believe that there is something in the contract which means Tyson can’t even try and hurt him,” Froch told the Metro.
“I’m sure if Tyson did land a big left or right hook on the chin of Jake Paul then he could render him unconscious,” he added.
Froch has repeated the narrative that many fans, boxers and boxing experts have expressed on social media and boxing shows, that if Paul gets hit flush, he would be a body. Froch suggests that language within the contract ensures that Tyson doesn’t go for any kill shots. If true, expect plenty of dancing around on both sides followed by light flurries of engagement.
Bidarian has insisted everything is on the up and up and if the fight was illegally fixed, Paul would be facing jail time.
Speaking to ESPN, Bidarian, owner of boxing promotions company Most Valuable Promotions alongside Paul, said:
“These are pro fights that consumers are making legal bets on.
“I don’t think the critic who says these are not real fights thinks about [how] there would be jail time if we actually did this type of stuff.
“We have never, and we will never, do anything that’s other than above board and 100 per cent a pro fight unless we come out clearly and say, ‘Hey, this is an exhibition fight that is a show.’”
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul Face to Face With Cam’Ron Mediating
When Paul laces his gloves up against one of the legendary pugilists of our time at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, both camps insist this is on the up and up.
Both fighters are taking a great risk. Tyson has not had a sanctioned pro fight since 2005 and Paul has faced just one pro boxer, Tommy Fury, in his 11 fights, and he lost to him. Regardless of who wins, there will be people who accuse both fighters of being involved in a scripted exhibition sold as a real fight.
When watching the videos of both fighters training over the past months, both look serious. Paul says “it was already written” that he will knock Mike Tyson out. In response, Tyson said “It’s not going to be an easy night for you.”
In a “Face 2 Face” interview hosted by rapper and podcast host Cam’Ron, Paul said, “It will be the biggest moment in boxing history, when I put this man to sleep.”
Tyson responded, saying, “He dreams a lot, this is not going to come true young man.”
Both fighters have sold this fight to perfection, and podcasters and media have done its job choosing what side they want to ride with.
On the “Patrick and the People” podcast, Patrick and a female host who were pro-Tyson had this exchange:
“Man I want to see him just catch em’ with that uppercut and clock those Jake Paul teeth out,” Patrick said.
“Man…Man…bust those veneers. I want airline cracks in those teeth,” she responded.
“Yeah man I want airline cracks in those teeth,” he added. “I want him to have to go to the dentist.”
His co-host concluded with: “Wire his jaw shut for a little bit.”
Everyone is banking on a real fight, but history and a hunch tells us there’s a great chance we could be disappointed. I wouldn’t expect it to go the full eight rounds. That’s probably Paul’s strategy. Stay away from fierce blows by Tyson, who will be looking to end it early, and drag it past four or five rounds, tiring the 58-year-old out. We don’t know about the small print on the contracts that Froch referenced, but we do know it benefits boxing and everybody else for this fight to be exciting and end with somebody lying on the canvas. There are more than a few people who hope it’s Jake Paul.
Chad Johnson has been able to seamlessly rise in the media world after a stellar NFL career because he’s adaptable. He’s learned how to use his positive and negative situations to strengthen his brand and his public visibility.
News of his split with fiancée Sharelle Rosado hit the social media mosh pit shortly after he announced his wedding plans. Despite the abrupt ending, Johnson hasn’t foregone his plans to get married.
On a recent episode of “Nightcap” with podcast partner Shannon Sharpe, the former wide receiver revisited his wedding plans, during a conversation about a social media couple who says they canceled their honeymoon after wedding guests short-changed them.
The couple chose to spend close to $60K on their nuptials, but only raked in $3,000 in gifts, far below their projected total.
This led into a conversation between Johnson and Sharpe about the skyrocketing costs of weddings in the U.S. today, which didn’t deter Johnson, who made close to $50 million as an NFL player and is currently worth an estimated $20 million.
Johnson says he is resuming his goal to get married in February, although he doesn’t have a bride yet.
Chad Johnson cited his advanced age of 46 as a motivating factor behind his reason to continue to pursue a wife.
“You still got your suit for the wedding?” Johnson said.
“I do,” Sharpe responded.
“Hey, s–t looking grim. … I know one thing, I’m getting married come February, you hear me,” Johnson said. “I’m getting married in February. I don’t know who the f–k it’s going to be, but when that godd-mn day come I’m walking down the aisle with somebody.”
“Bro, i’m 46 years old, man, I ain’t got any time to be playing,” Johnson continued. “What are you trying to do? Whoever it’s going to be, I’m walking down that motherf–king aisle in February.”
Sharpe wasn’t in favor of Johnson’s plans, declaring his intention to stand up and object to the wedding. Sharpe says Rosado is like his family declaring that the “Nightcap” family wouldn’t be accepting another spouse.
“Well I ain’t going. If it ain’t my niece, I ain’t going,” Shannon said, referring to Rosado.
“You know what, if you don’t show up that’s fine. … S–t, boy. I hate for us to fall out now,” Johnson quipped.
“I’ll tell you what, when the minister says, ‘Does anybody object, speak now or forever hold your peace’ — ‘I object, I said it, I object! This ain’t right!’
“I’ve known Relle for two years. She’s a good woman, Ocho!”
Chad Johnson and Sharelle Rosado put in some work together, first going public on Instagram with their relationship in 2020. The couple got engaged in 2021 and also welcomed their first child together into the family. An actual wedding date never materialized, but two years later, in 2023, Johnson proposed to Rosado again, who shared the intimate moment on her Instagram stories.
The road to the altar was marred in challenges ever since they announced the wedding and Johnson revealed that Rosado, a successful businesswoman, wanted a prenuptial agreement because Johnson was not paying any bills, and his main job was to chill at home and care for the kids.
“She talking about we getting married next year and had the nerve to bring me papers to make me sign a prenup,” Johnson told Sharpe at the time.
A year later, Rosado later confirmed their split by announcing it on X.
When the split first happened, Shannon felt there was still hope for a reconciliation, because Rosado didn’t tell Johnson not to call her anymore. She just blocked him on social media.
“You good, cause anytime a woman tells me to not call…Block. Delete the number. You’ll never get me for stalking.”
Sharpe told Johnson to both “stay offline” and give it a couple of days. Well, it’s been two weeks and Johnson is still single, but he has decided that he will move on with his marriage plans and find a wife along the way.
Another motivating factor influencing Johnson’s inflexibility with a February wedding date, is the fact that he says he already paid a deposit for some A-list entertainers at his wedding.
“I’m having an open bar, I got three people performing,” he said, adding that he has Brian McKnight, Anthony Hamilton and John Legend set to perform. “It’s too late now. It’s too late.”
This sounds like a strange ploy for Johnson to get himself a show. Is he trying to be the next ‘Bachelor” contestant? He always has an angle and Sharpe, who has blown up in the media because of shrewd moves, viral interviews and shock journalism at its best, is always there to help boost the energy in the podcast.
Even better, Shannon and Chad can send out a call for a wife. A “90 Day Fiancé” type of situation, where the women can come on the show live and state their case for why they should go down the aisle with Chad Johnson.
There should be levels of competition and various categories and tests that the women have to pass to make it to the “Super Bowl” of love, or whatever. Sharpe can take the lead in pumping or dumping the contestants and then the final decision can be made by a combination of who Shannon, Chad and the millions of followers voting think would be the best wife.
It’s easy money and an idea this writer probably should have kept to himself, but knowing Johnson he’s already cooking something up. Maybe Rosado makes a surprise appearance at the Super Bowl and throws her hat back into the ring. The possibilities are endless, and the drama would be irresistible.
Being a professional athlete comes with a lot of perks, there’s money and fame amongst other things. But, there’s also a downside to it as well, that oftentimes sees former athletes struggle when their playing days are over. While it’s not on record, that appears to be what’s going on with former Duke Blue Devils standout and seven-year former NBA player Kyle Singler.
The former sharpshooter helped lead the Blue Devils to the 2010 NCAA championship while being named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Singler was also named an All-Rookie Second Team performer in 2013.
The former McDonalds All-American, who’s been away from the game since 2019, seems to be battling some mental health issues. In a recent video on his Instagram page, Singler even mentioned fearing for his life. The video has close friend Kevin Love and former NBA All-Star wanting everyone who cares about him to offer all the support and love they can.
In the video, a shirtless and seemingly disturbed Singler said:
“I fear for my life every day. And people in my community make me look … as if I’m gonna be someone that is gonna be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful.”
Singler also looked extremely skinny, nothing like the 6-foot-8 and 230-pound forward that played the game as a stretch four before that term became so popular in today’s game.
Love and Singler have a relationship that dates back to their high school basketball days in Oregon. Singler attended South Medford High School and Love played at Lake Oswego. Following Singler’s alarming video, which looked like a cry for help, Love posted on X, “I love you Kyle. Hit me whenever. Please.”
He also pleaded with those who love Singler to step up and shower him with love and support.
“To everyone who has spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he has touched – please shower him with the love and support he needs+deserves,” Love wrote. “I would not be who I am today without him. I am forever indebted and love him. To the NBA family, Duke BB family, & South Medford community – let’s show up for one of our own.”
During his playing days Love encountered his own bout with mental health issues. Back in 2018 the former All-Star forward and one-time NBA champion opened up about his battles, panic attacks and other things associated with it. Since then, he’s become one of the biggest advocates for mental health awareness.

He even founded the Kevin Love Fund, whose motto is “everyone is going through something we can’t see,” to help others who are dealing with such.
As his Miami Dolphins team struggles to get back into playoff contention with a 3-6 record, wide receiver Tyreek Hill hasn’t learned how to stay out of the media drama. The explosive receiver, whose private life always seems to spill into social media and in some way involves a woman, ignited another firestorm on social media after comparing Le’Veon Bell‘s girlfriend to an adult film star.
Bell reposted a post by his girlfriend, called “Jalisa Rey,” on IG, showing the couple together on date night. She was wearing a tight-fitting yellow outfit.
Bell wrote: “finest mf on this planet’ with heart-face and heart emojis.
Hill took to X, stating, “She look like Teanna Trump,” which he might have felt was a compliment, but of course social media twisted it to start a schoolyard brawl.
The comparison to Teanna Trump, a famous adult film star, comes weeks after Bell gained a bunch of MAGA supporters as a result of him speaking on the podium with his former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Antonio Brown in support of Donald Trump (no relation).
It also comes a few days after Bell, a vocal anti-Trans critic, was roasted on social media after a Trans woman claimed he attempted to hook up with her.
The drama began after an account on X sent out a message, telling followers to “vote as if your daughter, mother or wife was watching.” Bell reposted it with a clear anti-Trans in sports message, typing, “I don’t want my daughter to have to compete or share a locker room with men.”
Trans sex worker Alexis Hexx immediately got into the mix with a message seemingly exposing the former NFL player for being a fake, claiming he hopped in her DMs.
The screenshot indeed showed Bell hopping into her DMs saying, “What’s goooood” with a heart emoji. Hexx called Bell out, posting, “Spewing this rhetoric when…& yes this was on my NSFW page he knew I was a doll lol.”
Hexx’s posts went wild online, and people started flooding into the comments. It picked up so much steam that Bell was forced to address the situation.
Bell just accepted the L as far as him attempting to cheat on his girl but offered a lengthy response to how he ended up in Hexx’s DMs, saying:
…“now secondly, LYING to make it seem like I slid in your dm, KNOWING I didn’t know you’re a man should be CRIMINAL … like buddy should real life face jail time tryna pull some sh*t like this .. we facetimed, and I INSTANTLY knew right away you were a man, and you got BLOCKED … this all happened in NOVEMBER 2023! its now NOVEMBER 2024 and all of a sudden you wanna ‘out dl men that supports Donald Trump.’”
Bell also insisted that he “loves” the Trans community but doesn’t want “men” in his daughter’s bathrooms.
“Best BELIEVE you won’t get away with this distasteful lie that you tried to trick the internet with, I HOPE YOU GOT GOOD LAWYERS .. buddy got mad because of my support of Donald Trump and decided to trick the internet! lil buddy can be mad about it all he wants, I STILL stand on what I said…I have ZERO issues/problems with the Trans community (just to be clear)…it’s just this ONE is trying to get clout off my name, and that can’t fly .. but I love all of you and take that however you want … lol at the end of the day, I STILL DON’T WANT MEN TO COMPETE AGAINST OR SHARE A BATHROOM WITH MY DAUGHTER .. period, I hope this helps.”
Bell Hasn’t Responded To Tyreek Hill’s Comments About Girlfriend
Bell has all of a sudden become the NFL face of Black MAGA universe, but that’s a whole other story. As far as responding to Hill’s comments, Le’Veon hasn’t. For all we know, he took it as a compliment and Hill meant it as one. Let’s not act like sex workers of all kinds aren’t a popular choice of companion for star athletes and entertainers.
Sometimes people such as Hill, who hold a position of power, need to test their ability to make social media posts go viral. So they post things that they know will probably stimulate some conversation and controversy. Maybe Hill noticed that ever since his arrest outside of the stadium for the home opener he hasn’t been in the headlines as much.
However, always leave it to the social media mosh pit to provide a range of reactions from uninterested to shock to disgust and amusement. The think piece tweets helped the conversation branch out into a discussion about the boundaries of social media etiquette and the responsibility of public figures to display a certain amount of decorum, which is comical because we are way past that. Most public figures in the world of sports and entertainment often are lauded for their lack of political correctness.
Hill was lightly chastised for comparing Bell’s girl to a sex worker.
“cuh that somebody’s home body,” said one X user, reminding Hill that she is Bell’s girlfriend.
“That’s wild bro,” said another X user, laughing at the audacity of Hill’s tweet.
Others didn’t show Bell any mercy for admitting that he cheats on his girlfriends in order to prove he didn’t try to hook up with a transgender.
“So why are you cheating on her with dudes?,” another X user asked.
“And you cheating on her with random hoes on the internet,” said another X user, who wasn’t buying the happy faces Bell and his girl were putting on for the cameras.
An X user named @TheRealLowKee, just straight up called out Bell for living a double life from the bedroom to his political affiliations.
“We know what you like in real life bro! You playing both sides.,” he said.
Stay tuned for Bell’s response, if he gives one at all. And for anybody out there in the NFL, Stefon Diggs might be the girlfriend snatcher when he’s healthy, but Reek always has his eye on ya girl, so beware.
It’s no secret that many men love to play video games. It’s been the primary choice of indoor entertainment for an entire generation or two.
Some are addicted and others play for leisure. Some are so captivated by the experience that they take wins and losses way too seriously.
That seems to be what happened in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where 20-year-old Jalin White is facing charges for harming his 8-month-old son as he was losing in NBA2K.
Per police, the alleged child abuse occurred on Nov. 5 with White reportedly losing by “2 points in the fourth quarter of the game.”
White says the baby got heavy and he tossed him onto the bed when he hit a wall causing some major damage to the baby. White, was charged with physical abuse of the infant and also negligence of a child while also causing serious bodily harm.
Police responded to a complaint from a local hospital where the baby had been taken after his injury. White was charged with physical abuse of the infant and also negligence of a child while also causing serious bodily harm.
Appearing in court on Saturday, Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Madeline Witte, “The defendant has confessed to this incident. The defendant is also the only person with the ability and the opportunity to inflict this harm on the victim.”
White reportedly told detectives, “I heard the wall. It was hard on his head. It was hard. It was a loud, hard wall.”
Per prosecutors the baby suffered traumatic brain trauma and “is not expected to survive.”
If in fact the baby does perish, White’s charges will be upgraded to homicide.
“This is likely going to become a homicide,” Witte said. “This is a severe level of violence for an innocent infant child, which had multiple injuries.
“This appears not to be the first abuse of conduct with this child based on the fact that there are multiple stages of healing of broken ribs,” the court commissioner said.
White is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond, and if convicted as of now he faces up to 62 years in prison, with that very likely to increase if the baby does succumb to the injuries suffered.
From the sounds of it, this is much more deeper than losing while playing a video game. It sounds as if the baby has been abused in the past, and this time it likely cost the baby its life.
From the sounds of it, this is much more deeper than video game anger, as evidenced by the injuries suffered previously.
Deion Sanders is riding high with a 7-2 record. At this point in his contract, he’s getting $100,000 per win. The haters have evaporated and he’s preparing for an NFL draft that will feature both of his “sons,” quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, the two-way phenom that has been taken into the family since he flipped from Florida State to join The Sanders (Deion, Shedeur and Shilo).
His name has recently been tossed into the ring by ESPN personalities as a possible replacement for Mike McCarthy as head coach in Dallas.
Sanders has never wavered in his mission to get Shedeur and Travis into a position where they would be projected top 5 picks in the NFL draft.
He also has mentioned the fact that he would be heavily involved in their draft processes, going as far as to dictate where they will and won’t end up. Which is a very bold tactic, that hasn’t happened many times in league history.
So we know that Coach Prime has a game plan for his prized pupils and there are obviously organizations that he prefers. “Speak” panelist Keyshawn Johnson suggested that Coach Prime already has a pecking order of teams and asked him about his intentions and methods of ensuring that both are in ideal situations.
“Will you step in Eli Manning like … to the point where you told ’em like, ‘Hey, man, I ain’t taking that psych test with the Giants,’ I followed you and said I ain’t taking it either?” Johnson asked Coach Prime on the Fox show on Tuesday. “Will you step in and do some of that if it’s the wrong organization and say he ain’t going here.”
Eli Manning pulled one of the greatest power moves of all time when he refused to play for the San Diego Chargers because he didn’t like the direction the team was going in — and forced his way to the New York Giants via a draft day trade for Phillip Rivers in 2004.
Sanders has boldly stated he could go that route with Shedeur, but not through the media.
“Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly. I’ll do it privately,” Deion admitted to the panel that included Joy Taylor, Paul Pierce and Michael Irvin. Similarly to LeBron James, Sanders is not apologizing for having the ability to help navigate his boys through the NFL draft process with extra special care.
“I’m gonna be Dad until the cows come home and with Travis as well,” Deion insisted.
Deion Sanders Refused To Take Psyche Test For NY Giants In 1989 NFL Draft
In the 1989 NFL draft, the New York Giants, who held the 18th overall pick, used one of their allotted interview slots at the NFL combine on the dynamic, All-America Florida State Seminoles cornerback and kick returner. Deion was sure to be gone before then, but just in case the Giants wanted him to take a psych test.
He didn’t do it. We all know the legendary story; Deion has told it a few times.
“They sat me down and gave me this book. I mean, it was thicker than a phone book. I said, ‘What’s this?’ They said, ‘This is our test we give all the players.’ I said, ‘Excuse me, what pick do you have in the draft?’ They said, ‘I think tenth,’ I said. ‘I’ll be gone before then. I’ll see y’all later. I ain’t got time for this.’ That’s a true story.”
Johnson asked Sanders where he would like to see Shedeur play, being that he’s a QB and system and coaching is mandatory for a high draft pick at that position coming into a situation where he will probably have to help a losing team improve.
“Somebody who can handle the QB that he is, somebody who can handle understanding what he’s capable of,” Sanders replied. “Someone that’s had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization who understands what they’re doing. Not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves where you don’t have the support and the infrastructure of the team.”
It will be interesting to see how Sanders’ comments might scare off teams such as the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans, who both need franchise quarterbacks and are at the bottom of the NFL right now. The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently tied with NY for the league’s worst record 2-8. The Jags have Trevor Lawrence, so Hunter would be a better fit for them than Sanders.
Cleveland needs another option to Deshaun Watson. The Raiders and Saints will also be looking closely at the position. All of these teams fall within the top seven picks so far.
In fact, Sanders was filmed on video shouting out the Las Vegas franchise.
Prime didn’t sound too worried about teams with poor offensive lines. So if the Jets nosedive further, maybe they can sneak in and grab Shedeur to replace Aaron Rodgers. New York is a town that he could thrive in.
“Forget the offensive line. He’s played with lines that haven’t been great able to do this thing,” Sanders said. “But just the infrastructure of the team and the direction of where we are going.”
“He can deal with anything,” Sanders added. “One thing about Shedeur that separates him from a lot of quarterbacks is Shedeur started every game in high school and every game in college but one and he’s like that man…he has a true gift; it comes from God, and he loves this game of football.”
“You see him stuntin’ like his Daddy every now and then, but that’s just who he is. He got that honest.”
Sheduer is coming off a Big 12 offensive player of the week performance on Saturday against Texas Tech, where he completed 30 of 43 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown. Sanders tied the program record for consecutive games with a passing touchdown at 20 and he’s thrown one in 45 straight games overall.
On the season, the cocky QB ranks in the top three nationally in completions, completion percentage (72.9 percent), and passing touchdowns (24). His 2,882 passing yards place him in the top 10 and he leads Colorado with five rushing touchdowns.
Expect the drama to keep rolling as the Buffs (5-1 In Big 12) face a critical matchup against Utah at Folsom Field on Saturday, airing on Fox at noon. The NFL draft, with Sanders all up in the mix, will be one of the most anticipated in some time.
Former Love & Hip Hop Star Apryl Jones is likely more known for the men she’s dated than anything. The former love interest of R&B singer Omarion has had her share of men in Hollywood, but it all started with “Icebox” singer whom she also shares two children with. The very single Jones recently went on a rant complaining about she feels is a watered-down dating scene.
The actor/singer/songwriter went live to talk about how a man from another wanted her to fly out to see him, but he wanted her to pay for her own flight. That caused Jones to go live and ask questions about today’s male. Jones, who also recently dated “Best Man” star Taye Diggs seemed a bit perplexed by how, in her opinion, men act today.
“What is happening with the men in the world?”
“They wanna be catered too, they give you bare minimum. They don’t wanna spend money. The bill will come to the table and the men don’t grab the bill, women are grabbing the bill. The women are grabbing the bill first, and we are paying for the bill.”
In retrospect Jones is too old (37) to be talking like that and getting flown out. Is she right about men? That’s up to your judgment, but this has long been her MO, and especially after her and the aforementioned Omarion separated.
Jones was engaged to Omarion from 2014-2016. She also had a relationship with Hip Hop mogul Dr. Dre that spanned from 2020-22. “Black and Yellow” rapper Wiz Khalifa hit a taste in 2018.
Jones also reportedly intertwined with NBA superstar Kevin Durant for a bit in 2017.
But her most publicized relationship happened to be with Omarion’s former B2K band mate Lil Fizz. The two made headlines when it was reveals that they were in a full fledged relationship from 2018-2020. The relationship reportedly did some serious damage to her relationship with her kids’ father.
During the time that Jones and Lil Fizz dated, Omarion didn’t comment, but during a 2022 interview on “The Breakfast Club” the “Pose To Be” singer revealed how he felt seeing and hearing about the two together.
“I heard, and you know, it really turned up ‘my unbothered’ in a whole another way,” Omarion started. “I knew that what he was doing was on purpose. And it didn’t really prove anything. At the end of the day, you have to recognize that people make their own choices. And most of the time, it has nothing to do with you. So he made that choice. And I don’t think it was a smart choice.”
When asked how he felt about Jones’ involvement, the singer added, “I can’t understand, but from her perspective — someone that is hurt — hurt people hurt people. And some people just take it to another level. And she definitely took it to another level.”
Here we are years later and Jones is still searching for that knight in shining armor. Maybe she needs to get out the studio and return to the courts.
The Indiana pro basketball teams feature two of the biggest stars in sports with Caitlin Clark and Tyrese Haliburton bringing an array of skills and charisma to their respective backcourts. Naturally Clark and Haliburton have ignited a friendship through a mutual understanding of being franchise faces, since Clark’s emphatic arrival in Indy.
Clark continues to make headlines during the WNBA offseason by attending Sunday’s Pacers game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to support Haliburton’s squad as they took on the New York Knicks.
Haliburton didn’t disappoint, dropping a game-high 35 points on 11-for-18 shooting, along with 14 assists, two rebounds, and two steals, while also knocking down four three-pointers.
This isn’t the first time Clark and Haliburton have teamed up to show support for Indiana sports and the fans.
Back in October, Clark and Tyrese Haliburton collaborated for a photo at the Golden Gala, a fundraiser benefiting the Pacers Foundation. They were both stunning in appearance and the connection sent the internet into a frenzy, with unfounded speculation running wild and fans showing their support for a possible romance, knowing good and well that both are in committed relationships.
The two superstars were also spotted at the Butler men’s basketball game, yucking it up and having a grand old time.
On Sunday, joining Clark in the stands was Jade Jones, Haliburton’s girlfriend. Not to be outdone by Clark, Jones, who reportedly has been dating Haliburton since 2019, used Instagram to share some exclusive photos of herself and the Pacers star after pounding out the Knicks.
Guess who popped in on the comments?
Clark couldn’t help but make a remark about Haliburton’s footwear and his little piggies that were uncovered in one of the pictures. She roasted the two-time All-Star and 2024 Olympic, imploring him to “put them toes away.”
Jones entered the conversation with a friendly one-word response from Jones.
“Foul ,” Jones replied.
The exchange seemed to be very cordial, as inevitably the two women have probably developed a friendship as Clark and Haliburton’s public appearances together increased.
Clark’s power and her impact on the league has only increased since she ended her Rookie of the Year and First Team All-WNBA season. The new Unrivaled League started by WNBA players Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, who faced off in the 2024 WNBA Finals, is set to kick off on Jan. 17 in Miami.
Supposedly, the founders of the league have been trying to put together an attractive financial package to lure Clark away from the links and onto the hardwood as a driving force in the league’s inaugural season. Three-time MVP A’ja Wilson has already said she will not be joining this season.
How ironic that the very women who made Clark’s first year in the WNBA a living hell, now need her to promote a product that could benefit them and future generations.
“We’ll see. I’m just taking it as it goes,” Clark told reporters. Alex Bazzell, Unrivaled’s president, commented, “We’re always going to have a roster spot for Caitlin. She knows there’s a place for her here.”
There were reports of a “Lionel Messi” type of package to convince Clark to help get the league off the ground. That references the mega-package of salary, financial incentives and team equity that Inter Miami CF dangled to lure the international star Messi across the border to MLS in 2023.
The eight-week league, gives all inaugural players equity and aims to provide an alternative option for WNBA stars who have historically had to travel overseas to make enough money to fund their lifestyles in the offseason.
Now, players can stay in the U.S., earn a minimum salary of $100,000, while putting on a show alongside some of the elite players in the world, on TNT, a station that’s easy to find.
Clark is yet to confirm. The league will disclose its final six players by Nov. 20, so fans are holding out hope.
Honestly, Clark doesn’t need Unrivaled League at all. She’s forging a different path, and her brand has probably already exceeded anything the league could truly afford.
Need Further Proof?
After serving as a panelist for Women’s Leadership Summit, Clark, who has quickly become a global superstar, will compete in an LPGA pro-am competition hosted by legendary golfer Annika Sorenstam, called “The Annika” on Nov. 13.
There were initially no plans to broadcast this pro-am, but Clark’s presence has changed that. Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter revealed in a November 8 article, her presence changed that, “Golf Channel and the LPGA are expanding their coverage of next week’s tournament, The Annika, with Caitlin Clark set to appear in Wednesday’s pro-am.”
Jade Jones isn’t the jealous type, but she is undoubtedly keeping a close eye on the burgeoning friendship between Clark and her NBA superstar husband.
We already know how protective LeBron James is when it comes to his kids. He wasn’t playing any games with those who criticized his son Bronny’s journey to the NBA. He even blocked a few media people that he was once cool with.
When President Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in these latest elections, his response was directly related to protecting his daughter Zhuri’s rights as she continues to grow.
Along the way, their sons Bronny and Bryce have had to deal with hateful and negative and jealous comments during their high school games. Savannah and Bron are used to it, but they continue to bring the same energy as they always have when their kids are under attack.
Savannah James is relatable to people despite being the wife of a billion-dollar legendary NBA brand. She admits that it was a challenge adjusting to the explosive fame that Bron and then her kids were thrust into. She, however, has no problem approaching a heckler who went over the line, and recalls in the season 3 premiere episode of her “Everybody’s Crazy” podcast that she did just that at a game.
During the episode, touted as “It’s Giving…We’re Back and Minding Our Business,” her co-host April McDaniels, a mother of three, played a voicemail from a fellow basketball mom who said she can’t take the negative comments towards her son at the games and asked for their advice.
That’s when Savannah James recounted a story of a heated interaction she had at one of Bronny’s games.
“Short story: When I had the baby on my hip, about to go and try to fight a man; he was flicking Bronny off in a game,” Savannah said, explaining why she was instigating a confrontation while holding a baby.
“You know how you say, ‘You got to be an adult and talk to the people head on.’ I marched up them bleachers with Zhuri – little, tiny Zhuri. What am I going to do? I’m talking to a man like, ‘So, you flicking my son off? Like that’s what we doing at this game?’ (He said) ‘Oh no! I was doing that to my son. That’s what we do.’ OK. So, now you crazy, just randomly flipping your son off while he playing the game. That’s odd, but yeah, all right. So, yeah, like it’s crazy stuff! People are just crazy.”
Savannah James Learned Breathing Techniques To Deal With Hecklers and Disrespectful Fans
Confronting the fan who was giving a young Bronny the finger at a game and making him walk it back by concocting a story about how he and his son communicate that way is definitely a gangster mom move that people are familiar with throughout basketball arenas in every nook and cranny of the country.
It’s just extra juicy when you hear it from a woman like Savannah who has kept her personal life under lock and key and quietly but effectively built her own million-dollar business.
The James Gang has truly been blessed and continue to strive forward in this new phase as Bronny is constantly facing scrutiny and criticism for his wind-aided run to the NBA. Savannah says she decided a long time ago what methods she would use to deal with the feeling that she “was a target on our back” every time they walked into the gym.
The constant spotlight has its advantages and disadvantages. Savannah says the constant media attention and engagement of the crowd offering positive and negative opinions out loud made it difficult for her to focus on the game and enjoy her son following in his Dad’s footsteps. So she decided to block out all of the noise and remove herself from the line of fire to avoid any rash decisions inspired by being a protective mother.
“A lot of somebodys already had a lot of things to say,” Savannah mentioned. “I try to stay away. Not stay away from the game, just stay away from the people, so I don’t hear the banter,” LeBron’s wife said on her podcast.
Aside from turning a deaf ear, she also adopted some new methods of learning how to deal in that environment.
“That’s when I really learned breathing techniques,” Savannah said, ”because I had to talk myself down from cursing people out.”
While we tend to highlight the women who have babies with NBA players and suffer through humiliating situations involving other women that play out over social media, women such as Savannah who have helped protect and nurture her husband’s empire and the family legacy, should be lauded. Also considered a blueprint for success in relationships.
She has so many stories to tell and a perspective that is very unique as she has completed her duties during her husband’s career and is now branching out on her own endeavors, while still nurturing the journeys of her other children. While also dealing with the struggles, triumphs and real-life situations that everyone else has to deal with when it comes to protecting their kids. It’s got to be challenging when you’re a relative of LeBron James.
Alumni, current students and many others made their way to Tuskegee, Alabama, for the legendary HBCU’s 100th homecoming last weekend. Following Saturday’s big day full of the hoopla and fun, gunfire rang out around 1:40 AM Sunday morning, and unfortunately 17 people were hurt with one being pronounced dead.
While the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) made an arrest hours later, the damage had already been done.
Police took 25-year-old Jacquez Myrick into custody. It’s also unknown if Myrick, arrested near the site of the shooting, was never a student at the historic HBCU, but what is known that authorities found Myrick with a handgun fully equipped with a machine gun conversion as he attempted to vacate the scene.
Myrick, now faces a federal gun charge for possession of a machine gun, and while most things point in his direction, he hasn’t been charged in the shooting.
Tuskegee interim Police Chief Pat Mardis told reporters that 18-year-old Latavion Johnson, an Alabama State student, perished in the horrific hail of bullets.
“Some idiots started shooting,” Chief Mardis remarked. “You couldn’t get the emergency vehicles in there; there were so many people there.”
Details have emerged that Johnson, who was the only person to lose his life to the hail of gunfire, acted heroically in the final moments of his life,
“On one of the videos, a girl said he pushed her out of the way, and that’s when he got shot” said the victim’s father, Larry Johnson. “She made a post that someone saved her life, and lost his life.”
“He’s a hero in his own way,” Larry Johnson said.
Those who knew La’Tavion Johnson described him as a “lively soul,” and his mother affectionately described him as a “mama’s boy,” and insisted “That was my baby.”
“He was a loving person,” his father added. He started to exclaim, “The life he had…” but was in too much pain to complete his thought.
The family was already grieving another child when this tragedy struck. La’Tavion Johnson’s sister recently died, leaving behind a son. The teen had been helping the family raise his nephew.
The shooting sent a shock wave of emotions throughout the area, especially as they were finishing out a such a special weekend for the university.
On Monday, school President Mark A. Brown announced new measures to help ensure the safety and well-being of the school’s students and faculty.
Brown said Tuskegee University is “no longer an open campus.” Effective immediately, everyone will be required to show a university ID to enter campus. Students, faculty and staff must wear their IDs at all times while on campus. The university says for those who don’t have one, the team in the Public Safety building across from the main gate will be able to provide one.
“An annual homecoming is something we have been doing for 100 years. It is a tradition at many schools and especially so at historically Black colleges and universities,” he said. “We have no plans to change that tradition.”
“We did not nor could we have planned for security at an event that was not approved in advance or officially sanctioned by the university,” Brown said. “Nonetheless, it happened on our campus, and we take full responsibility for allowing a thorough investigation and implementing corrective actions.”
“We have and will prioritize the mental health of our students”
Earlier Saturday the Golden Tigers didn’t fare too well in losing to the Miles College Golden Bears 37-7. Football game aside, this past weekend was about celebrating 100 years of homecoming gatherings, and unfortunately the events early Sunday morning took the luster off of that.

A Division II record 47,311 fans attended Saturday’s homecoming game as well.
Shaquille O’Neal didn’t make a lot of pro Trump noise during the President’s campaign, but the first Black Papa John’s Board Member, who has been doing business with Donald Trump over the years like many athletes have, also didn’t promote the depths of his relationship with Donny from Queens to his Democratic fanbase.
Reports have recently surfaced that Shaq and Trump’s relationship goes back as early as 2005 when Donald Trump married the next first lady, Melania Knauss. Shaq was not only invited to the wedding, but he dropped an extensive bag on his present, reportedly, gifting the couple an exquisite Rolls-Royce Phantom valued at $325,000.
At the time, Shaq joked that the white Rolls-Royce was a gift for Trump but would be parked up at his house for Trump to use whenever he needed it. We have come to expect these kinds of comedic soundbites and elaborate gestures of generosity from Shaq, as his net worth has increased to over $500M over the years.
Trump’s ever-increasing net worth is currently listed at $6.9B, undoubtedly boosted by his two terms as President.
The actual wedding was a lavish affair held at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, with a reception at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.
Mar-a-Lago was valued at $18 million to $27 million by an assessor and valued at $24.15 million in a most recent assessment by Zillow. It was also the centerpiece of one of Trump’s civil trials, which has also boosted its popularity and exclusivity. An expert who spoke on behalf of Trump’s team during the civil trial said the property could be sold for $1 billion because it’s a unique property.
A Forbes report said profits at Mar-a-Lago have quadrupled since Trump left the White House in 2021, generating revenue through exorbitant membership dues, political fundraisers and hosting lavish weddings and other events. In 2023, the club reportedly grossed around $40 million, which is double what the club made in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic and triple what Mar-a-Lago made in 2014 before Trump embarked on his legendary political career.
Shaq and ex-wife Shaunie were among the 400 guests in attendance, celebrating Trump, who at the time was a charismatic real estate tycoon and entrepreneur with no known political aspirations.
Shaq was an NBA superstar who was just getting his feet wet in trying to venture into big-time corporate business. Naturally, impressing an influential person such as Trump, who had already been married twice, played into his generosity.
The gift had to leave a lasting impression on Trump, because the relationship has remained solid despite Shaq refusing to publicly endorse him for president. In fact, maybe Trump is the reason Shaq even votes at all because the NBA Hall of Famer surprised many when he admitted on a 2020 episode of his podcast “The Big Podcast with Shaq” that the 2020 election was the first time he voted.
Trump is still getting gifts from celebrities looking to get in his good graces 30 years later. Internet star Adin Ross gifted Trump’s son Barron a Rolex.
Shaq Calls Donald Trump A Misunderstood Straight Shooter: Donald Trump Put Up $1M For 1 v 1 Between Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon In 1995
Regarding Donald Trump, Shaq has always described him as a “straight-up guy.” Shaq was an NBA newbie back in the ’90s, when Trump allegedly tried to go into a sports venture with the Orlando Magic star. Trump put up $1M in prize money for a special one-on-one clash between Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon.
So, Shaq might become way more vocal about his relationship with Trump now that he’s back in power and there’s a belief that Trump is more popular than ever among Black men.
Former NFL quarterback and 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III has become a pretty well known commodity in the podcast world. The former Heisman Trophy winner who was once viewed as the next big thing at ESPN until his abrupt and very shocking dismissal from the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network in August has gone full throttle on his podcast since.
Not only does he talk sports with various guests, the sometimes controversial Griffin also delves into other topics. He’s often joined by his wife Grete, a former Florida State track athlete who’s of Estonian descent. Griffin recently responded to a debate which asked ‘what Black women do you support?’
Griffin Fires Back At Naysayers
Griffin first order of business was to post a picture of his four daughters, three with his current wife Grete and one with his ex-wife. The former NFL ROY then proceeded to explain why his daughters are black and will definitely know that, but also that their mom is of Estonian heritage as well.
The picture drew some odd remarks with one social media user saying this:
“Your daughters are biracial and you are going to confuse them if you keep calling them another race.”
Another came with this, “Hey your daughters are biracial… if at anytime we have to look at kids with different phenotypes and wonder what they’re mixed with… CLEAR INDICATION THAT THEY DONT GET TO CHECK THE BOX.”
Griffin’s response went a little something like:
”The number one thing being said was, ‘You can’t say that, sir, because you married a white girl …’ as if marrying someone outside your race means you can’t drop facts,” Griffin explained in the viral post.
“Is marrying someone outside your race a bad thing? No, it’s not a bad thing. Love knows no colors, and that’s what we should be preaching, instead of divisiveness.
“Black women telling my four daughters that they aren’t black is BEYOND WRONG.
“Often times some people say that I don’t support Black Women because my wife is white.
“Not only is that false, it’s ignorant. I support Black Women starting with ALL 4 OF MY DAUGHTERS pictured below. I support my Black Mom, 2 Older Black sisters, cousins, aunties, grandmas and all Black Women.
“I also support all women starting with my INCREDIBLE Estonian immigrant wife who is an AMAZING mother also pictured below.
“Support is not a piece of pie. We should support everyone and not divisiveness.”
Griffin said a mouthful, and while many likely won’t change their opinion on how they feel about his daughters because of their mother’s descent, the post itself has gone viral with over 10 million views. Griffin’s comments alone have garnered over 2 million views as well.
Griffin Abruptly Fired From ESPN
At one point in time Griffin looked like a rising star at ESPN. The former NFL and CFB analyst moved up the ranks pretty quickly, going from small college games to the network’s MNF cast. He was replaced by former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce prior to being fired altogether.
ESPN claims that it was nothing more than a straight business move, but many believe his constant and very public defense of FSU (wife’s alma mater) being left out of the 2023 CFP definitely played a role in his demise.
The disaster in Dallas continues to roll along. The entire “me” culture in the Dallas Cowboys locker room used to be promoted and even respected when they were competing for playoff berths and division titles with visions of Dak Prescott leading them to the franchise’s first Super Bowl since the ’90s.
After another embarrassing loss on Sunday — a 34-6 thrashing at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles — “the ship be sinking.” The 3-7 Cowboys have also lost quarterback Dak Prescott to injury, and the natives are getting restless.
Head coach Mike McCarthy lost the team almost two seasons ago and has been on a constant hot seat since February when against the wishes of many within and outside the organization Jerry Jones decided to keep his lame-duck coach for one final contractual season.
McCarthy’s contract situation was the subject of a media question posed to Parsons in the postgame AT&T Stadium locker room.
Parsons basically explained that he doesn’t feel a shred of sympathy for McCarthy because he’ll be free to take another coaching job wherever and whenever he wants, as opposed to an aging veteran like 33-year-old Zack Martin, who’s on the clock.
“Mike can leave and go wherever he wants,” Parsons said of his head coach. “The guys I kind of feel bad for (are) guys who might be on their last year or on their way out. That’s who I want to hold the trophy for.“
“You want to win games…with those type of legends who put in more time and work (with Dallas Cowboys organization) than Mike McCarthy ever did,” Parsons added. “Those are the kind of guys I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”
The current situation in Dallas is a mess and you can rip all of the players you want, but the culture begins with Jerry Jones, who insists on doing things his way; from prolonging contract negotiations with star players to questionable personnel moves to rifts with those players through the media.
It’s a town of delusion and entitlement, the things that money and unearned praise and blind worship will get you.
Parsons has never had a problem talking his mind, especially when he’s one of the Cowboys stars who is actually putting in work and still wants to be paid megabucks. After a two-sack performance on Sunday, Parsons didn’t hold his tongue, and his latest rant was a direct and unnecessary shot at head coach McCarthy. Basically, kicking a man when he’s down.
The ESPN “First Take” crew described it as the last straw.
“They got to tear it down,” said football analyst Dan Orlovsky. ”They got a culture problem in Dallas. We’ve talked about how the roster is depleted and something should have been done after the blowout to the Packers (in the playoffs). Now it’s turning into finger pointing. We all know what’s going on with the football team, that it’s not a great roster and injuries. …but to say this?”
Orlovsky says Parsons could have easily expressed his desire to win for a future Hall of Famer like Martin, who has served the franchise so well for years. Instead, he decided to go high school and start taking public shots at the head coach, showing his frustration, his lack of leadership and the dead end that has become the Cowboys franchise.
“There’s clearly a culture problem that has been deteriorating ever since the playoff loss to the 49ers, where the defense played well and the offense fell short,” Orlovsky added. The Cowboys culture right now is a culture of me and not a culture of we.”
Sharpe agreed that the culture is shot, but he’s not shocked.
“Who’s surprised by this?” Sharpe asked, putting the blame squarely on the owner ,who makes no bones about it that any move that occurs within the team goes through him.
Sharpe continued: “He’s done an awful job of assembling talent. If you couldn’t stop the run the previous years and do nothing but change the coordinator … people run the ball down your throat.”
“Everybody in that locker room knows Mike McCarthy has no say in anything that goes on and that’s why they talk about him like they do,” Shannon concluded.
Maybe Dak getting hurt was the best thing that could happen to him and the Cowboys. Now he is exonerated from any further blame for this disastrous season and also enables Dallas to tank for some more talent, while Jerry and the boys try to figure out this mess during the offseason. As far as McCarthy goes, it would be shocking to see him survive a losing season after all of the expectations that were placed on this team and their high-priced QB and wide receiver this offseason.
Somebody has to take the blame, and it won’t be Dak.
On Sunday the Kansas City Chiefs needed a last second blocked field goal to stay unbeaten (9-0), surviving a very game Denver Broncos team 16-14.
In the game, seven-time All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce made history. The former Cincinnati Bearcats star not only had eight receptions for 64 yards in the win, but he also recorded his 76th career touchdown as a Chief.
The score tied him with Chiefs legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for most in team history.
While, Kelce was putting in work on the gridiron on Sunday, earlier in the week he was gushing about his relationship with the pop superstar Taylor Swift. Kelce, who’s pretty outspoken, gloated a bit when a caller on his and brother Jason’s “New Heights” podcast asked what he should do to spice up things with his partner in the bedroom. Kelce’s response made it sound as if he and Taylor have no problems behind closed doors.
“I will personally mention that I have no idea what that’s [like],” he quipped.
Kelce raved about Swift so much that he never really answered the caller’s question, he instead opted to talk about he and the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer’s romance.
That’s where his recently retired and future Hall of Famer older brother Jason stepped and answered the question. Jason, who’s been married for almost seven years, had this to say to the caller:
“Women like to be sought after. Try role-play one night, you know, see if she’s up for that.”
When he was finished raving about his own love life, Travis then decided to give the caller some pointers.
“Maybe try some candles, scatter some rose petals, and be a bit more romantic. Taking her to a nice restaurant is always a good move. Beat her to the punch, let her know like, listen, baby, I’m trying.”
Sounds pretty romantic, and could be how Travis pulled Swift.
Including Sunday’s miraculous win over the Broncos, the Chiefs are now 14-3 when Swift shows up. Swift began attending games last season after Kelce pursued her during a stop at Arrowhead Stadium during her Eras Tour stop. Kelce reportedly shot his shot to no avail then, only to invite her to a game, and the rest is history.
The two have been an item for over a year, and Swift has been right by the future Hall of Famer’s side, including last season’s Super Bowl win in Las Vegas.
Stephen A. Smith held his perch as the No. 1 talking head on ESPN for a long time. When former NFL player Pat McAfee came on the scene with his T-shirts and flip flops, profanity and exclusive interviews serving a large right-wing following, his popularity grew quickly and offered another voice as shocking and proud and magnetic as Smith’s, just in a different way.
Naturally, a story about tension between these two guys wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility. That game is very competitive, and Stephen A. sings his own praises often, letting it be known that he is the cash cow of the operation.
However, McAfee signed a five-year, $85 million contract with ESPN, currently the highest salary of anyone at the company. With Smith’s deal expiring next June, the “First Take” ringleader is reportedly looking to top McAfee’s salary and be the network’s only $100 million-dollar on-air talent.
ESPN reportedly offered Smith a five-year, $90M contract extension back in June, which he kicked to the curb. So, there could be some tension behind the scenes, and it’s not a stretch to believe that the employees who are Team SAS probably aren’t fond of employees associated with Team McAfee.
According to a recent report by Athlon Sports (which can be read here) published on Friday night, former ESPN employee Dan Dakich once stated in an interview that there was erupting tension between Smith and McAfee. He also played the race card, revealing that McAfee was viewed as “the enemy” at ESPN by Smith and other African-American employees.
“McAfee’s the enemy at ESPN,” Dakich said. “Not among (chairman Jimmy) Pitaro and (ESPN president of Content) Burke Magnus and the rest of the suits, no, no, no. He is the enemy of the ESPNers that are African American that are siding with Stephen A. Smith. True story.”
“I’ve been told that by him, Dakich continued. “He knows that. We all know that. … He’s told me he is the enemy of most of the talent. He’s making more money. He’s more popular. He’s looser. Of course he’s the enemy.”
Smith, who has never expressed any dissent toward McAfee, immediately set the record straight on X.
Smith shot a hole in Dakich’s sensational claims, stating that he and McAfee are on the same team, and he always roots for his teammates.
“Peeps, normally I wouldn’t waste my time,” Smith tweeted. “But this is a flat out lie — and some straight BullS#%! There isn’t a shred of truth to this B.S. I root FOR my teammates, not against them. And I damn sure have NEVER encouraged my colleagues to do otherwise.”
“The more @PatMcAfeeShow succeeds, the better it is for the rest of us. How many times do I have to say this. It was true with @PTI. It was true with @FirstTake…..before I arrived. And it’s true now. There are enough legit true things to attack, so why lie? Again, straight B.S. Have a nice weekend everyone!”
Smith has spoken, but nobody is really listening. He plays both sides better than anyone. He’s in tight negotiations and probably feels entitled to that top money spot being that he has been at ESPN since 2005 and helped take the company to another level and a new audience and McAfee has only been around since 2019 — and gets to come on after “First Take” gets the crowd warm.
Plus it was reported some time ago that Smith and McAfee aren’t the best of buddies. John Ourand reported back in June that Smith turned down a $90 million contract offer from ESPN because he wanted “McAfee bucks.”
Smith doesn’t negotiate from a position of weakness, and he’s willing to lose partners and friendships if it means his value will be demeaned. Max Kellerman and Skip Bayless both discovered that the hard way.
Let’s see how this heavyweight in-house battle shakes out.
