The third installment in Universal Pictures The Best Man film series has been given a release date. The follow-up to 2013′s The Best Man Holiday titled, The Best Man Wedding will be released on April 15, 2016.
Cast members from the first two films, Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, Melissa De Sousa, and Regina Hall, are all expected to return and reprise their roles. Malcolm D. Lee will of course return as writer and director. While Sean Daniels will produce.
"Okay if I want to do something, I have to will it to happen," said Lee, in an interview with The Shadow League. "I have to make the calls and talk to the talent and then talk to their representatives, and write the right script and give the actor the right moments. And also try to market it the right way."

The first film in the franchise focused around a group of friends coming to grips with the possible airing of dirty laundry detailed in a book written by Diggs' character, Harper Stewart. The second (The Best Man Holiday) showed the same characters reunited after 15 years, where old rivalries and love interests were renewed. According to Deadline, it became, "the fifth-largest bow for an R-rated romantic comedy, the second-highest for an urban romantic comedy and the sixth-biggest for an urban-themed film overall."
1999′s The Best Man grossed over $34.1 million at the box office, while its sequel The Best Man Holiday took in more than $71 million with only a $17 million budget. At this rate, a $100 million payday for the third installment is certainly in the stars.
