‘You’re Racist If You Disagree With Me’: Fans Debate Who’s The Face Of Women’s Basketball, Caitlin Clark Or Angel Reese?

Another day and another debate who’s the face of women’s basketball. Some fans believe it’s Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and others say it’s Chicago Sky Angel Reese

The debate stems from a question posed in a social media post by TotalProSports asking fans who the face of basketball is as a whole. The five choices being the aforementioned Clark and Reese alongside NBA stars Nikola Jokic, LeBron James and Victor Wembanyama. While many debated the topic as a whole, some fans turned it into a women’s basketball debate.

Reese Or Clark?

The ongoing debate about Clark and Reese will likely follow them the rest of their WNBA careers. It all started in the 2023 NCAA championship game when Reese taunted Clark in the aftermath of the LSU Tigers win over the Iowa Hawkeyes to win the school’s first and only national title.

Ever since fans have picked sides, and while Clark is the more popular player, fans of Reese aren’t willing to concede that Clark is the face of the women’s game. To express how they felt fans took to social media to have their say.

“Definitely Angel Reese. You’re racist if you disagree with me,” a fan said.

“In fact, when anyone says the words “women’s basketball” these days, her name – and her deal with Reebook – always comes up,” another fan said.

“I would say Caitlin Clark,” another fan quipped.

“Um out of that list it should be Joker but Caitlin has been doing some special things for the WNBA,” a fan mentioned.

“LOL, Caitlin Clark is since she gets the ratings, attendance, attention, and publicity.  Angel and A’ja do not get ratings and attendance so they are not.  As for the men there is not one — it’s those 3 plus Curry, SGA, and Luka.  Probably Victor will be but he is not there yet,” a fan spewed.

“Clark is the face for the women, Wemby and Bron are the current face. Jokic just doesn’t care,” another fan replied.

“Wemby followed by Caitlin,” another fan said.

Caitlin Clark Effect

The case for Clark as the face of the sport it the strongest because of a few things. She’s been credited with driving unprecedented viewership and economic impact. Known for her shooting (logo threes), passing and ability to draw huge crowds, Clark moves the meter.

Because of that she’s currently the most cited face of the league, with others like Reese, Paige Bueckers and USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins who’s steadily coming back from a torn ACL.

What About A’ja Wilson?

All this talk about Clark and Reese when Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson is the premier talent in the WNBA. The supremely talented Wilson has long dominated as a two-way player and serves as a key face of the league. As a four-time WNBA MVP, three-time champion, and 2025 TIME Athlete of the Year, she combines unparalleled performance with leadership. She is considered the best player of her generation.

Wilson’s unmateched performances on the biggest stage, as well as her elite stats, marketability, and her impact on the game definitely makes her a viable choice as the face of the women’s game. At the moment it’s safe to say that Clark and Reese may be more popular, but as far as on-court play goes, it’s Wilson by miles.
