Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and singer-songwriter Madison Beer announced their engagement on July 28, 2026, sharing a joint photo on Instagram captioned “Meet my fiancé”.
The couple was first publicly linked in August 2025 after being spotted together at various sporting events and in Beer’s music video.

But this intimate scene at Chargers training camp –- which appears to be taken without the couples’ knowledge – isn’t sitting well with some fans who are calling it weird. Herbert is sitting on the field with Beer and she is stroking his hair in a very caring, almost doting manner.

Tom Brady notoriously lost a whole model wife and marriage because of his insatiable appetite for winning at football. Herbert hasn’t won anything as he enters his seventh NFL season. So this scene, while romantic, has sent fans into panic.
The last thing fans want to see is Herbert using the field to romance his girlfriend as if they were at the beach. With all due respect, there wasn’t live action going on, and you could see other family members and children walking around on the field.
