“It’s Philly Blunts This Week” | Pat Mahomes Sr. Put the Philly Pack In the Air After Chiefs’ Super Bowl Win

Patrick Mahomes Sr. continued to talk his talk after he watched his son capture his second Super Bowl ring in his short NFL tenure. He did the same thing after the Chiefs defeated the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

It has become a recent tradition for this generation of athletes to light cigars after big games, but this is not something new in sports history.

Recent History of Cigar Smoking

Joe Burrow brought it back to life after he light a cigar in the locker room following LSU’s victory over Clemson in the 2019 College Football National Championship game.

Joe Mixon and Ja’Marr Chase were among many Bengals players smoking cigars after their 2023 divisional round win to advance to the AFC Championship. Mahomes’ dad must have seen the video and took it as a sign of disrespect. The Bengals were also on camera calling Arrowhead stadium “Burrowhead” as well following the divisional round win.

After the Chiefs win over the Bengals, Mahomes’ dad said, “Yeah, I am smoking on the Joe Burrow. I am smoking on the Joe Burrow.”

He continued, “It feels great. My baby boy did what he always do. He is going to show up and show out. I am just glad he did it.”

Reason to Celebrate

Mahomes’ dad has a lot to celebrate and brag about when it comes to his son. His six-year NFL career, five as a starter, already has taken off at a Hall of Fame pace. He already has won two MVPs, led his team to five consecutive AFC championship appearances, three Super Bowl appearances, two Super Bowl wins, and the quarterback has won two Super Bowl MVPs.

He has also never thrown for less than 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in a season. He threw for at least 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in both of his MVP seasons.

Mahomes became the fastest player to reach the 20,000 passing yards milestone and he has a chance to break Dan Marino’s record as the fastest player to throw for 200 total touchdowns in his career. He has 192 touchdowns in 80 career regular-season games and  needs just eight more touchdowns to reach 200. Marino threw his 200th TD pass in his 89th game.

One of the best stats of Mahomes’ impressive career is that he is the only Black quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls and the second black quarterback to play in multiple Super Bowls along with Russell Wilson.

If Mahomes keep up at his current pace, he could possibly challenge Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings and ten appearances.
