“I Would Be Pissed” | Bengals Wide Receiver JaMarr Chase Glad Joe Burrow Doesn’t Berate Teammates When Frustrated Like Tom Brady Does

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has long been compared to Tom Brady.

Is Joe Burrow The Next Tom Brady?

Burrow’s cerebral play, clutch gene, quick release and understanding of defenses are just some of the things that draw comparisons with the man recognized as the QB GOAT.

When asked about this week’s matchup between Brady and Burrow, wide receiver Jamar Chase did his best to analyze the similarities he sees.

“Just the timing on making a decision, you know with the ball in their hands. Getting the ball out fast. Tom Brady does a great job of that. And Joe does a good job of making sure the balls are just hanging as quick as possible.”

Chase then talked about the competitive fire that each QB displays and a key difference between the 2020 No. 1 overall pick and Brady.

“I don’t know, I’ve heard stories of Tom Brady going off on people for dropping the ball, Joe don’t do that. So I wouldn’t want him to, I would be pissed at him going off on me.”

Tom Brady Yells At Teammates, Joe Burrow Doesn’t

Chase is speaking of the infamous Brady sideline meltdowns that folks say are because of how much he hates to lose. They also say he’s a perfectionist and just wants his guys to perform at a high level. While all that may be true, it’s still no reason for his antics when players don’t do something correct. And that’s what you don’t see from “Joe Cool.”

Burrow Downplays Brady Comparison

Many believe Burrow’s trajectory will land him in Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a place Tom Brady will enter in a landslide vote once he hangs up the cleats.

After leading the Cincy Bengals to the Super Bowl in just his second season, those comparisons ramped up even more. And while Burrow respects Brady’s greatness and longevity, he also wants everyone to know he’s his own person.

In Wednesday’s post-practice presser, Burrow elaborated on what he meant.

“I don’t really pay attention to it. He’s Tom and I’m Joe. I really just think that I play the game my own way. I kind of have a little bit of everybody. I wouldn’t say there’s one thing that I do the best. But I would say that I do everything with the best of them. I wouldn’t say I really have a glaring weakness.”

Burrow continued and even gave his opinion on some things he possesses like Brady.

“I have the quick release. I’ve become really efficient with my lower body, getting the ball out and seeing the defense.

Heading into Sunday’s huge matchup between the Bengals and Buccaneers, Burrow is having a tremendous season.

Joe Burrow Owns Patrick Mahomes

The 2019 Heisman Trophy winner has passed nearly 3,900 yards, and 27 touchdowns, both top three in the NFL. Burrow’s biggest claim to fame is he is one of only two quarterbacks with three wins over Chiefs maestro Patrick Mahomes. Burrow’s three have come all come in 2022, two regular-season wins and a road AFC Championship win advancing the Bengals to Super Sunday.

The other is Tom Brady, who’s also beaten Mahomes three times. That says a lot, because, including playoffs, Mahomes is 67-18 as a starter. Meaning 33 percent of his career losses have come to Brady and Burrow.

That stat shows how cerebral these two are, because getting wins against a guy like Mahomes isn’t easy, but they both have done it quite often.
