Deion Sanders in association with Barstool Sports and SMAC Entertainment brings us the next installment of the hit docuseries “Coach Prime.”
A documentary that will take the viewer inside the JSU football program under the leadership of the charismatic Sanders. It will detail the entire culture and operation of JSU football as a whole, as well as a look at other HBCU programs.
In an appearance this week on “Good Morning America,” Sanders was his usual jovial self as talked about the series and what the viewers can expect to see.

“This documentary is tremendous. … It shines light, not on just JSU, but so many other HBCUs who are overlooked and underfunded. People take that for granted. I’m seeing 100 or so kids smiling every day, working their butts off because we’re getting a new locker room. We’ve got the new football field. We have multiple uniforms. The helmet companies pitched in. We have several different helmets. We’re giving them the same experience they can garnish at a Power Five at this HBCU.”

Docuseries Will Take Viewers Through A Series Of Events During Sanders’ First Full Season On JSU Sidelines
Sanders arrived at Jackson State in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the fall season was pushed back to a seven-game spring season. The 2021 fall season highlights many aspects of the program, beginning with migrating through the tough SWAC conference undefeated and winning the conference title for the first time in 14 years behind the program’s first ever 11-win season.
And how about Sanders, flipping the nation’s top-ranked recruit in Travis Hunter? Through all the euphoria, there were some contentious moments as well, none bigger than the health scare Coach Prime endured following surgery on his foot. It caused him to miss three consecutive conference games, as he battled for his life and keeping his leg.
Sanders talked about how pleased he is with the continuation of the docuseries and even promoted it via his Instagram:
“Coach Prime is back and I’m elated to share this project with you all, because WE DONT HOLD BACK. All season, we’ve been getting questions about what really went down at Jackson State this fall … we’re gonna clear up the rumors, set the record straight and always keep it 100% with you. I PROMISE you will get nothing but the TRUTH in this action- packed, all-access look at our championship program. Get ready and put your seatbelts on. I BELIEVE!”
The docuseries began airing in August prior to the Tigers season-opening win over the FAMU Rattlers in the Orange Blossom Classic. That first installment detailed the team going through the spring season amidst COVID-19, Coach Prime adding quality transfers via the portal, and the daily grind of building a championship-winning program.
It's Prime like you've never seen Prime before.

Michael Strahan Production Is Producing “Coach Prime”: SMAC Entertainment
SMAC Entertainment is co-producing the docuseries in conjunction with Barstool Sports. SMAC Ent was founded by Pro Football Hall of a Famer and Emmy-winning television host Michael Strahan in 2011. Strahan is a close friend of Coach Prime, and he along with Men’s Wearhouse donated custom JSU suits to the team ahead of their season opener against FAMU.
Michael Strahan had custom suits made for the entire Jackson State football team as a favor to Deion Sanders.
• ~150 suits made
• An on-campus pop-up Men’s Warehouse shop was made for fittings
• "They just felt so wonderful" Sanders said of his team

Since he arrived at JSU, Sanders has done his best to give the student-athletes resources that stretch beyond the gridiron. Custom suits were just the beginning, as there’s so much more in store with him at the helm.
Sanders’ motto from his playing days has always been “When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you play good.”

The docuseries should be entertaining, with new revelations about the JSU season. Plus, it’s Deion, so you know the entire presentation is going to be full of life. What he’s doing is amazing and things like this just increase the exposure and visibility he craves for Black college football.
The season premiere of “Coach Prime” airs today on Barstool Sports’ various platforms, including YouTube and Sling.
