TSL Presents: Goosebumps 2 Star, Actor Caleel Harris

The Shadow League caught up with the 14-year-old sensation about his latest role in the iconic Goosebumps franchise.

The Shadow League got the chance to sit down with the child actor and star of the new R.L Stein’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Caleel Harris.

Harris opened up about his interest in starring in Goosebumps, working with a Hollywood legend and much more. Check out the interview below.

TSL: What sparked you to do Goosebumps?

Caleel: I think that the accomplishments and accolades behind the Goosebumps franchise are what really gave me that spark to want to be a part of this movie. R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series has sold 400 million copies and having the opportunity to have a lead role based on a series this is truly something that you can’t pass up.

TSL: How was it working with actors as experienced and legendary as Jack Black / R. L. Stine?

Caleel: Being able to work with a comedic legend like Jack Black was really cool. He has unbelievable comedic timing, and he still uses his wide array of jokes even when the camera isn’t rolling. He never really stops telling jokes, and I love it. Being around him also provided a great learning experience, too. You can see why people love him so much, and why he brightens up a room whenever he walks in

TSL: If you weren’t acting, what would you be doing?

Caleel: I’m not sure. I love to read, so that’s probably a pastime that I’d get deeper into. I’m also a little curious to learn a little about real estate, so probably getting into that, too.

TSL: You’re only 14 but you’ve appeared in a lot of films and shows. What else do you have planned for your 2018-2019?

Caleel: 2018, though it is not over, has been a wonderful year for me. In addition to GOOSEBUMPS 2 coming out, I’m currently filming CENTRAL PARK FIVE directed by Ava DuVernay, which will be released on Netflix, which has been an incredible experience. I feel so blessed to be able to have experienced the things I have in the past year and for all the opportunities it has brought, and I really am looking forward to what the future brings!

TSL: You got your start on Nickelodeon. What are some of your favorite shows on the network and are there any other shows you’d like to appear on?

Caleel: I really got to hone my craft on networks like TNT, CBS and Lifetime first. I started doing guest stars, and co-stars on different networks at a very young age, and that really taught me a great number of lessons. But one of my favorite shows on Nick other than Haunted Hathaways (which my brother starred in), would probably be Drake and Josh. I used to watch that show a lot, and I still do from time to time. A show I’d like to be on would be, without a shadow of a doubt, Blue’s Clues. If they brought it back for one episode, I’d totally do it, just for nostalgic reasons.
