The Philadelphia Eagles, even after winning their first Super Bowl, continue to make history as the first NFL team to ever be dis-invited from a White House visit.
The Golden State Warriors were also “dis-invited” after winning last year’s NBA title, when the players made it clear that they had no intention of visiting with Donald Trump.
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!
From an official white house statement, Trump cancelled the Eagles visit due to disagreements over the national anthem, which for anyone whos been paying attention knows that the NFL players are protesting police brutality against black people and other minorities.
So many lies smh Here are some facts 1. Not many people were going to go 2. No one refused to go simply because Trump “insists” folks stand for the anthem 3. The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military
In the era of Colin Kaepernick being blackballed, the Eagles have arguably been the most conscious or self aware teams in regards to civil rights.
Defensive players like Malcolm Jenkins and Chris Long told the media they had no interest in attending, proving this weak statement is just an attempt for Trump to save himself some embarrassment, if thats even possible.
Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith said not many players planned to go to the White House anyway.
According to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, less than 15 players would have actually gone to the White House.
I’m hearing different numbers but it seems less than 15 Eagles players were going to the White House.
The Shadow League will continue to update you as Trump will more than likely put his foot in his mouth in future tweets.
