The Washington Wizards will host the defending NBA champion Golden on February 28th. In normal times, the trip would have included the obligatory White House visit where they would have honored the president with a team jersey that had his name on the back.
Well these are definitely not normal times. Remember when Donald Trump tweeted that a White House invitation for the NBA champion Golden State Warriors was “withdrawn”, despite the fact that the players had already made it clear that they had no intention of being anywhere near the man?

Head coach Steve Kerr, a long-outspoken critic of Trump, left it up to the players to determine how they wanted to spend their time, and the players elected to spend it inspiring local kids.
“It’s their championship. They got disinvited to the White House, so it’s up to them what they wanted to do. So they made their plans,” Kerr told ESPN. “I want the players to have a good day and to do something positive and to enjoy what they’re doing.”

The Warriors tandem of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, a Washington, D.C. area native, have been at the forefront of criticizing Trump’s questionable motives and actions.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, two members of the Democratic Party, extended invites to the Warriors to celebrate winning their second championship in three years at the U.S. Capitol. But the players seem to not be interested in playing politics with their lone visit to the nation’s capitol.
