The Splash Brothers Formula Still Runs Dub Nation

On a night when Russell Westbrook took us further into the future with another rock-dominating, scintillating triple-double (57, 13 and 11)  — the highest-scoring of its sort in NBA history —  the Golden State Warriors began their game against San Antonio down 15-0 before returning to the essence.

Chef Currys 29 points and 11 assists and A-Klays 23 points paced the Warriors to a 110-98 emphatic comeback win in San Antonio.

After all of the offseason drama concerning Kevin Durant and the in-season drama with King James complaining about needing more players and the recent countdown to Durants return as if it will totally guarantee Dub Nation another title, Golden State defeated the chip-seeking Spurs last night and basically wrapped up another Western Conference crown with an old formula; The Splash Brothers.

Nothing else was really needed.

A supporting cast featuring guys like David West and Andre Iguodala chipped in and did the dirty work around the leagues best backcourt.

Golden State ended San Antonios five -game winning streak and extended its own to nine games, without the services of the former league MVP. As the playoffs approach the Warriors are rounding into shape and showing the composure of a champion.

We played good defense in the first quarter and they just made everything, Curry said after the game. We stayed with the program

Golden State coach Steve Kerr agreed: We didnt panic, he said.

With Durant dunking in pregame warmups the league needs to panic because his return will provide Golden State with another skilled bomber to get those hard-to-acquire points late in playoff games. But its clear that Durant has to be the one to fit in as he works his way back into the flow, because the original Splash Brothers recipe has Dub Nation looking chip fit at the best time.
