TCU Wants Deion Sanders To Come To The Big 12| The King Isn’t Leaving A Half-Built Empire

Deion Sanders‘ health has caused some concern around the HBCU community, but it looks like that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Since taking the college football world by storm at Jackson State, Coach Prime’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed — from last season’s shortened spring season where his team went (4-3) with the previous regime’s recruits to this season’s 7-1 overall record and top billing in the SWAC Eastern Division standings.

Reports are surfacing that the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs are sniffing around Jackson State’s campus, trying to scheme on the biggest brand in HBCU Football.

Sanders’ name was recently thrown into the mix for openings at University of Southern California and Florida State and he immediately shut them down as unfounded rumors. He’s just really grooving at Jackson State, his recruiting classes are elite and both his sons left football programs on par with TCU to go there with him.

So any team throwing his name out there as a candidate is just trying to let him know the job is available if he wants to sit down and talk. Sanders has too much invested in HBCU Football and has placed himself in the center, as the heartbeat of a new culture. He’s the big man on any campus and he’s unlikely to relinquish that kind of power.

With Success Comes Bigger Brands In Demand Of Your Services

Sanders has always been successful, from his high-school playing days where he was a three-sport (football, baseball and track) athlete to his days as an All-American at Florida State. He was one of the building block recruits that helped spark a run of 14 consecutive season AP Top 5 finishes under the legendary Bobby Bowden. Now he’s turning the Jackson State football program around while also marketing and bringing visibility to the entire HBCU and Black College Football landscape as a whole.

Sanders Has Ties To The Dallas-Forth Worth Area

Sanders joined the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 1995 and moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He’s called the area home ever since. In 2012, he was the head coach at a school he founded called Prime Prep Academy, which ran until 2015. It was based out of Dallas. Sanders also led Triple A Academy and was the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill, where he coached his son Shedeur Sanders, who’s also the highest recruit to ever attend Jackson State.

Sanders intrigues the Horned Frogs brass because of his familiarity with the DFW area and the state of Texas. His charisma/swag is a plus, but there’s also his recruiting prowess, which looks to be second to none. Deion can recruit with the Power Schools across the country.

Coach Prime Looks To Be An Ace Recruiter

During the 2021 recruiting cycle, Sanders reeled in the 55th ranked recruiting class, and that was only two spots behind the Horned Frogs who play in the Big 12, a Power 5 conference. Meaning they have way too many resources to be finishing just two spots ahead of an FCS school with very limited resources. Sanders landed five 4-star recruits to just three for the Horned Frogs. The only reason they finished higher in the rankings was they had 14 total recruits to the Tigers’ 12.

TCU isn’t stupid. They know if they were to hire Sanders, they’d also be getting the services of his son, Shedeur, the Tigers’ starting quarterback. Shedeur has shown that he’s capable of starting anywhere in the country for the next two seasons at the very least.

Deion Sanders Already Did The Impossible | Shedeur Sanders Could Start For Any Team In The Country

Shedeur is a candidate for the Jerry Rice Award given annually to the nation’s best freshmen at the FCS level. That in itself is enough to entertain the thought of bringing Sanders home to the DFW area. That would require Sanders leaving the empire he’s building before he gets to see it through. Listening to Sanders talk, and keeping in mind his current unspecified health issues, it’s probably safe to say he is remaining at Jackson State. But these kinds of rumors keep surfacing as long as Deion keeps winning on and off the field.
