As the weeks get closer to the showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, the drama has not ceased. Since the insidious May-Mac World Tour barraged through Los Angeles, Toronto, Brooklyn, and London, all the storylines have been streaming out of the McGregor camp.
Former two-time world champion and Showtime Sports commentator, Paulie Malignaggi has been on a tear revealing issues within the McGregor camp that he was formerly a part of. Last week, Malignaggi voluntarily left the camp citing irreconcilable differences after McGregor’s team leaked images of sparring that left Malignaggi looking unfavorable.
Now, a recent local news interview shows Malignaggi exposing McGregor as a cheapskate, who rents exotic cars for himself but provides poor accommodations on top of the deceitful, self-serving image distribution on social media.

“Only his photographers are allowed in the gym so they’re going to get pictures favorable to him and I don’t mind that, you’re in your training camp,” said Malignaggi. “I wasn’t happy because he knows and I know it wasn’t from a punch, he was actually frustrated from getting beaten up that particular day and it was from a shove down a push-down.”
Malignaggi took to social media to announce his leave from the camp citing mainly the posturing McGregor and his camp executed from their social media campaign. The images showed Malignaggi falling down, being punched in the face, and McGregor with his hands behind his back during sparring. The images support McGregor’s claims to be well-equipped to defeat the 49-0, twelve-time world champion in five weight classes in Floyd Mayweather. However, Malignaggi stressed there is a smoke and mirrors strategy in play.
“I have an ethical side to me. Even if I had knocked down Conor McGregor and I had a picture of it I wouldn’t post it on social media. Let alone Conor who didn’t knock me down tries to play it as it’s a knockdown. He’s trying to sell it too hard for me.”
Malignaggi reveals that he views McGregor as a “weird guy” who harbored resentment from pre-fight hype they had in the past and exposed the living conditions McGregor imposes on his sparring partners as being “a little on the cheap side.”
“I have never been a part of a $100 million fight but I have been part of multiple fights where there’s been million dollar purses in there. Once you’ve been part of 7 and 8-figure purses or 9-figure purses in his case, you understand how to treat the training camp and how to properly budget it without being too cheap but without overspending. There’s people involved and you’ve got to take care of them too and I’ve never seen such a cheap guy in my life. I was blown away by the treatment this guy gave everybody but he rented himself a Lamborghini.”

Malignaggi described McGregor as someone who needs “yes men” around him and lamented the fact that he cannot take advice and guidance. Although, he promised not to elaborate on McGregor’s strategy and tactics that he learned form the training camp, he did say that he will expose some of the elements during the live broadcast of the fight where he will perform commentator duties.
Mayweather’s camp has been radio silent in the build up with the four-part Mayweather McGregor All Access shows being the only current outlet to see his preparation and hear his opinions about the fight since the World Tour finished. The two will meet live on pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday, August 26th to finally settle the score.
