Yesterday, the May Mac World Tour finished its whirlwind campaign in London at Wembley Arena. The traveling circus went to three countries and four cities in under a week and showed the ridiculous heights humanity will go to sell baseless entertainment.
The 'A' side of the promotion, boxing industry speak for the bout's bigger star, is Floyd "Money" Mayweather, who came out of retirement to take on a mixed martial arts fighter debuting as a professional boxer. Not long ago, the bout was a virtual impossibility. Now it's a bizarre reality, sanctioned by the State of Nevada, who at any other time would never have placed a 12-time world champion in five different weight classes, and one of the best and most dominant fighters ever, against a boxing preemie.
But greed has no bounds here, and it has degraded all of the glory, class, and morality out of the competitors on the road to creating the biggest spectacle combat sports has ever seen. But the biggest loser here is Floyd Joy Mayweather.
After tying Rocky Marciano's pristine record of 49-0 and defeating the biggest names of his generation such as Oscar de la Hoya, Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao, Floyd decided to re-enter professional boxing to "give the fans what they want." Although it was revealed that "Money" didn't pay his taxes for 2015, the year he fought Pacquiao and Andre Berto to realize the largest overall two-fight payday in boxing history, he stuck to the narrative of doing it for the fans.

But the once impenetrable and unapologetically black veneer that the world has come to love and hate has already taken a loss to Conor McGregor.
Never before has he allowed someone to degrade his blackness during pre-fight hype until now. No longer the symbol of athletic excellence, unabashed street culture and entrepreneurship, now Mayweather is simply a lampoon.
He sat sipping water as McGregor disrespected his family name to his face and in front of his daughter in Toronto, clowned black womanhood with one sexual gyration in Brooklyn and rubbed his head like the "boy" he has been constantly referred to in London. Then to make matters worse, he stooped to McGregor's level yesterday in London, calling him a "faggot" in the heat of a verbal tirade.

The man who is known to stay calm under pressure lost his cool. He allowed a bottom feeding hype monger to steer him into the gutter, disrespecting humanity and people's sexual rights.
It was an 'aha' moment for me and when I realized that Mayweather has already lost the fight on many levels and forever tarnished his legacy. It also is a glimpse into how McGregor could possibly win the physical match by conquering the mental battle.
For a man who talks about giving an opportunity to younger fighters and people of color, why would you give the ultimate prize in boxing to a boxing neophyte? Deserving fighters like Keith Thurman, who has been begging for a fight with Mayweather for years, just cleaned out the welterweight division in many respects. Errol Spence, Jr. is here and dominant and even Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia have done enough for a run at the "Money."

Before these two jesters step into the ring on August 26th, Mayweather has already lost his '0', taking an 'L' in my eyes to his carefully crafted image, masculinity, and generalship. He should have stayed retired, or at least given an opportunity for one of boxing's top contenders to cash the biggest check of their careers.
Instead, the man he's constantly labeled as a "$3 million fighter" will now be the one guy that became a multi-millionaire debut faux boxer from trash-talking on Twitter. In one fell swoop, all the requirements that make a boxing match worth watching have been destroyed to satiate the great white hype principle supported and campaigned through social media.
Congratulations on your patronage of the neo-millennial combat sports troll. McGregor has already won, and the Mayweather boxing legacy will end as the rewarding party to white privilege and pugilistic degradation on a level no one would have thought possible for a man who calls himself "The Best Ever."
