Russell Wilson’s Got Ciara Jokes | Speaks At Dartmouth Commencement

Russell Wilson has had a busy offseason. Following 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he did some amazing things, the superstar quarterback was dealt to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster that sent shockwaves throughout the NFL.

The relationship in Seattle was on borrowed time. After several seasons of trade rumors, an actual move was made. At this point in Wilson’s career, it’s a fresh start for him and the organization.

Wilson continues to be all in, from his trips to visit children at hospitals, to returning to the Pacific Northwest to put on camps for the youth despite being a member of the Denver Broncos now.

His latest engagement was giving the commencement speech at Dartmouth College, an Ivy League school. During the speech, the cerebral Wilson joked with the graduates.

“Thank you very much for that introduction,” the Super Bowl champion said. “Usually I just get introduced as Ciara’s husband, so that was cool. And let me start by answering the question that is on so many of your minds: Yes, she’s here too.”

Wilson is referring to his superstar singer/performer wife of “Promise” and “Body Party” fame. The pop sensation accompanied her beau as he gave graduates some very important life jewels.

Wilson Is No Stranger To College Degrees

Although blessed with a golden arm and elite athleticism to play the quarterback position, had the NFL not worked out Wilson would’ve been okay.

The former NC State Wolfpack and Wisconsin Badgers star received degrees from both institutions as he led their respective football programs.

In 2010, Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from NC State University. Not one to rest on his laurels, when he transferred, instead of just using his eligibility to play football, Wilson focused on earning his master’s degree. In May 2012, Wilson received his Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from Wisconsin-Madison.

For him to speak at Dartmouth’s commencement was a full-circle moment, having gone through the process himself a couple of times. That communications degree seems to be paying off as Wilson is an eloquent speaker.

Are Broncos Super Bowl Contenders?

“RW3” was brought to the “Mile High City” to solidify a position that’s featured 11 different starting QBs since Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning retired following Super Bowl 50 in 2015-16.

Wilson brings a career record of 104-53-1, eight playoff appearances in 10 seasons, two SB appearances, over 37,000 yards passing, 292 touchdowns and just 87 interceptions.

He’ll have a plethora of weaponry at his disposal with running backs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. Wideouts Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler will strike fear into any defense.

As far as Jeudy goes, he’s displayed the same attributes that made Wilson’s favorite target in Seattle (Tyler Lockett) special; great quickness, get off and explosion at all receiver positions. All that plus a scheme built to fit Wilson’s skillset should have the Broncos right in the thick of things in the highly competitive AFC.
