LiAngelo Ball Among UCLA Players Arrested For Shoplifting In China

The UCLA men’s basketball team is in China right now, preparing to open the college hoops season overseas with a game against Georgia Tech.

News surfaced earlier this week about some Big Baller Brand pop-up shops appearing in China, where LaVar, LaMelo and the rest of the Ball crew have been for the last few days to catch middle son LiAngelo’s Bruins debut.

However, according to reports, Gelo made the news for all the wrong reasons. According to ESPN sources, he’s been arrested, along with two other UCLA players for shoplifting. The other players are supposedly fellow freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill.

UCLA released a statement: “We are aware of a situation involving UCLA student-athletes in Hangzhou, China. The University is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter, and we have no further comment at this time.”

According to ESPN, nearly 20 police officers came into the Hyatt Hangzhou at approximately 8 a.m. local time Tuesday and spoke to numerous players from both the Georgia Tech and UCLA teams. The players were reportedly kept in a room for hours and not allowed to speak to any of the coaches.

Stay tuned as more details emerge. If true, that ain’t a good look for the Big Baller Brand. I mean, what kind of big baller do you know that’s out here claiming to be doing big things, yet they’re out here boosting?
