Multiple outlets are reporting that Tristan Thompson and Khloé Kardashian are expecting their second child. The baby will be born via surrogate. The NBA free agent and “The Kardashians” star confirmed the news via a representative.
“We can confirm True will have a sibling who was conceived in November,” the rep tells PEOPLE. “Khloé is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We’d like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family.”
Kindness and privacy should be afforded to Khloé, but we all know it won’t.
Thompson and Kardashian’s on-again, off-again romance due to the NBA baller’s numerous infidelities makes them public fodder for discussion, jokes, etc.
But does this latest development mean they’re getting back together, again?
The two share 4-year-old daughter True and this newborn — which Page Six claims will be a boy. But there will be no romantic reconciliation, only co-parenting, according to another source.
“Khloé and Tristan are not back together and have not spoken since December outside of co-parenting matters. The baby was conceived via surrogate before it was revealed to Khloé and the public that Tristan was having a baby with someone else in December.”
Maralee Nichols gave birth to Tristan’s son last December, and he later confirmed the paternity results along with a public apology to Khloé. That was the final straw for the reality TV star, who broke up with Thompson, perhaps for good, in January of this year.
Kardashian discussed her fertility issues on the final season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” and she and Thompson discussed expanding their family this season on “The Kardashians,” prior to the revelation of Thompson’s latest infidelity.
Khloe’s older sister Kim, who has two children via surrogacy, talked to her sister about having kids via surrogacy in a scene during an episode of the reality show this season.
“I honestly had the best experience with surrogacy,” said Kim, who has four children, two of whom she welcomed via surrogate, during the scene. “And I think that you know what giving birth feels like – I always say, if you can do it, it’s such an amazing experience. But you’ll see, the love that you’ll have for your kids is exactly the same. There’s no difference, except that there was someone else that was the carrier.”
As for Thompson, the 31-year-old free agent is still waiting on a call from a team. It’s possible the Chicago Bulls will re-sign him.
He’s still a very good rebounder, finishing last season in the 97th percentile in offensive rebounding rate, tied for the best in his career. He was in the 86th percentile in defensive rebounding rate, the fourth highest of his 11-year career.
Thompson has earned over $116 million in his 11-year career; despite still being a very good rebounder that’s the only valuable skill he brings to the table.
