Deebo Samuel And Raheem Mostert Throw Twitter Jabs Over QB Comparison | Has Tua Tagovailoa Surpassed Jimmy G?

It looks like the Miami Dolphins are treating their whole 2022 season like a revenge tour. Two new Dolphins players are taking shots at their former team, and one in particular, Raheem Mostert, was throwing some verbal jabs at his former QB Jimmy Garoppolo. 49ers star Deebo Samuel immediately came to the defense of his quarterback.

Dolphins Raheem Mostert Disses Jimmy Garoppolo

Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com was producing a two-part feature of Dolphins signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa. As part of this feature, included were some quotes from Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr., two running backs that were 49ers from 2018 to 2021.

Following in the footsteps of Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill’s comments about his former Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, Mostert decided to praise his new quarterback by talking down on his former one. Mostert decided that the best way to compliment Tagovailoa would be to denigrate Garoppolo.

According to NBC Sports, Mostert let Dunne know that the Dolphins team is better all-around.

“We have way better talent here,” Mostert told Dunne about the Dolphins. “It’s going to get spooky.”

Is Tua Tagovailoa Better Than Jimmy G?

The former Purdue Boilermaker then compared Tagovailoa to Jimmy G, once again letting Tua’s arm be the topic of discussion.

“We have a quarterback who can actually sling it,” Mostert said of the Dolphins QB.

The Super Bowl 54 QBs seem to be catching strays left and right from Miami.

Unlike the Chiefs’ wide receiver room, Samuel wasn’t having that kind of slander thrown at his quarterback.

After the comments came out, Mostert tried his hand at doing damage control for the comments he made. Hours after the comments were made, Mostert took to Twitter to try to clear up his intent.

“What click bait. Not once did I dog Jimmy G in my interview. Did I praise our QB1?! Hell yeah I did!! But I also threw out compliments to my former QB. But hey let’s leave that part out…”

Deebo Samuel Defends Jimmy G

Samuel wasn’t going for any of it on Twitter.

“Raheem be real with yourself,” Samuel said on Twitter in responding to Mostert’s clarity tweet.

Regardless of the QB comparison, it just seems like many Miami Dolphins players are surrounding their franchise player with love. By choosing him over other talented quarterbacks, Dolphins players are proving how close the team is and how deeply they support Tagovailoa.

Samuel feels Mostert is delusional and that there might be some hard feelings about the way things transpired in the Bay Area. In 2021, Mostert suffered a knee injury that initially had him projected to be sidelined for eight weeks. After some serious thought, Mostert decided to undergo season-ending surgery, which allowed rookie Elijah Mitchell to have his breakout season, leading the team in rushing yards, thus making Mostert expendable.

Mostert’s thought process is understandable. A football player going on 30, playing a position with one of the shortest career spans in the game, facing a knee injury that if he rushed back onto the field, could’ve possibly been detrimental to his career.

Did Raheem Mostert Give Up On 49ers?

But the 49ers see it the other way. Mostert gave up on his team, and he was putting his personal interests over that of the team. That divide ultimately caused Mostert to leave the 49ers and go to the Dolphins.

Both teams though are in great shape, as the Dolphins are currently the No. 1 team in the AFC East with a record of 8-3. The 49ers are also leading the NFC West, boasting a record of 7-4.

Both of these teams could end up meeting in the Super Bowl, which could only add to more theatrics between the two franchises.
