Billy Donovan earns first pro victory

In Coach Billy Donovan’s pro debut, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant combined for 55 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 112-106 victory in their season opener over the San Antonio Spurs.

Donovans main task is to enhance OKC’s offense from the Russ & KD isolation show to a much more balanced and unselfish team. It was only one game, but the Thunder received solid contributions from Ibaka and their bench (Kanter, Augustin and Waiters).

Oklahoma City appears to be a much deeper team this year than in years past so expect them to be in the mix all season for the Western Conferences top three seeds under Donovan.
