Aroldis Chapman won’t be charged in domestic violence case

According to multiple reports, newly acquired Yankees’ closer, Aroldis Chapman, will not be charged in the domestic violence case in Florida.

Chapman’s girlfriend had accused him of hitting her, but the the Broward County State Attorneys Office, after reviewing the case, felt there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him in the case.

On October 30th, girlfriend Cristina Barnea called 911 and said He was hitting me in front of everyone, and hes going crazy, and went on to say Theres a lot of people here. Im hiding in the bushes, the house next door.

But Chapman was not arrested because the police reportedly determined there were inconsistencies in accounts about what had happened. Cops also didn’t see any marks around Barneas neck, and she later told officers she heard just one gunshot and did not know where it came from.

Last week, Barnea told prosecutors she didnt recall saying Chapman had hit her, the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reported.

Yankees owner, Hal Steinbrenner, jumped to his player’s defense from the owner’s meeting in Florida. “In this country, when allegations are brought against a person, that person is completely innocent until proven otherwise, not the other way around.”
