With Two Domestic Violence Incidents In South Florida Why Does Gervonta Davis Blame The Media?

Gervonta Davis broke his silence on social media about the domestic assault he was charged with earlier in the week and feels the media is to blame for any negative perceptions of him. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office held Davis after arresting him on Tuesday for an incident with one of his children’s mothers.

A 911 audio recording from Davis’ child’s mother was released, and the panicked voice brings listeners right into the terror she felt.

“I need help, please!” she said in the call. “I’m trying to go home. I have my baby in the car, and he attacked me in front of the kid. And, now he’s messing up my tires!”

“Please, help me! He’s going to kill me!”

Unfortunately, the call disconnected, but when she called again, her fear was just as intense; telling the operator, “I need to go home. I’m in danger right now!”

Tank’s Explanation

Davis took to his Instagram for a lengthy caption that explained his side of the story and what he looks at as the media making him out to be a “monster.”

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE MISGUIDE YOU ALL ON THIS BULLS–T…THIS WAS JUST YESTERDAY MOMENTS BEFORE ME AND MY CHILD MOTHER HAD ARGUMENT! WATCHING FROZEN WITH MY OLDEST DAUGHTER ..I NEVER PUT MY HANDS ON MY CHILD MOTHER NOR MY F***ING DAUGHTER ARE YOU F***ING CRAZY!! IM NOT A MONSTER I BEEN QUIET FOR TOO LONG. I DONT HAVE MEDIA TEAM, PR, GOOD LAWYER… spokesman nothing off that..THATS THE ONLY REASON IM DOING THIS NOW! JUST TO CLEAR MY NAME! I BEEN DOING THIS SHIT ON MY OWN SINCE I STARTED THIS SHIT!”

Davis left the comfort of the Mayweather Promotions stable late this year and is out on his own with his GTD Promotions. Mayweather has an internal and contracted public relations team for himself and the company, which Davis has yet to scale up to add.

“THESE PEOPLE DONE PUT OUT SO MUCH STUFF AIRED THIS EVERYWHERE AND HAVE A F—ING HELICOPTER FLYING OVER MY HOUSE NOW AS I WRITE THIS BECUZ THEY LOOK AT THIS S**T AS MONEY TO THEM AND TRYING TO GET AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE… THEY RUSH TO MY CHILD MOTHER OFFERING HER 50k JUST TO PRESSURE CHARGES..LIKE THEY DID WITH MY FIRST CHILD MOTHER, SO BAD THEY COULDNT GET HER SO THEY GOT A LADY THEY CALMED SHE WAS INTO THE MESS ALSO A LADY THAT KNOW. FOR SUITING PEOPLE FOR MONEY REASON..THEY GOT HER! WHICH I HAVE TO PAY 300k TO AND I DIDNT LAY A FINGER ON HER OR EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS LADY LOOKS LIKE! THEY DOING THIS FOR MONEY TO AND ALSO TO DESTROY ME!!”

A Bad History

In 2020, Davis was caught on video assaulting his first child’s mother at a celebrity basketball game in Miami. Although the charges were eventually dropped, the video is jarring, leading many to believe the fighter has a problem. Davis rebuffs the assertion that he abuses women and calls out many blog sites for what he sees as a money grab based on his controversies, real or contrived.

“I AM NOT A MONSTER, I HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS THAT HAVE TO GROW UP SOMEDAY AND SEE THIS BULLSHIT! THEY POST THIS BULLSHIT WORLD WIDE BEFORE ANYTHING! THEY EVEN POST A SNIPPET OF THE POLICE CALL WHICH MY CHILD MOTHER WAS CRYING ON THE PHONE BECUZ I WOULDNT GIVE HER MY TRUCK! Y’all bad for the culture!! YALL DONT CARE IF IT TRUE OR FALSE..HE DID OR DIDNT..YALL JUST WANT TO PUT IT OUT THERE BECUZ ITS BENEFICIAL TO YALL BUSINESSES!”

Davis later posted disturbing images of the aftermath showing what looks like the pettiness of his child’s mother. From toothbrushes mired in excrement to a ripped shirt, pictures with spit on his face, and a destroyed room, a toxic relationship seems the appropriate term for his relationship.

There has been no cancellation announcement by Showtime or Premier Boxing Champions for his Jan. 7 bout against Hector Luis Garcia. Tank attempts to turn the tide of public perception about his out-of-ring life.
