WATCH: First Full Trailer Released For Superfly Remake

The first full-length trailer for the upcoming remake of Superfly, starring Trevor Jackson and Jason Mitchell and directed by Director X., has just been released.

Ain’t no shame in my game. #Superfly in theaters June 15. Future “No Shame” (from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack SUPERFLY) available now: Motion Picture Footage (C) 2018 CTMG. All Rights Reserved.

Jackson stars as Youngblood Priest, with Mitchell co-starring as Eddie, Lex Scott Davis as Georgia, Michael K. Williams as Scatter, Andrea Londo as Cynthia, Allen Maldonado as Litty, Jacob Ming-Trent as Fat Freddy and Omar Chapparo as Adalberto.

The soundtrack is being curated by Future.

The original film, which was directed by Gordon Parks, Jr. starred Ron O’Neal as Youngblood Priest, a New York City cocaine dealer trying to make one big last score before going legit. The original Super Fly’s soundtrack, written and produced by Curtis Mayfield, was even more successful than the film.

It’s pretty safe to say that Director X’s remake has a lot to live up to, both cinematically and musically.
