Vontaze Burfict Suffers Potential Career-Ending Concussion

Concussion number seven may be a potentially career-ending injury for Vontaze Burfict.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict suffered a potentially career-ending concussion during Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Adam Schefter reported that this is Burfict’s “seventh concussion and second in a month.” Per his colleague Katherine Terrell, this could “put his career in jeopardy.”

Terrell noted that media is only aware of the seven concussions:

Those are only the seven we know about as well. I always wonder how many players have concussions that don’t end up in protocol. https://t.co/m4YrCMfM0G

Vontaze Burfict has been injury prone throughout his entire NFL career. And according to Bleacher Report, he has failed to play in more than 11 games during the past five seasons. Burfict has dealt with multiple suspensions and failed drug tests. He also has been fined more than $4.2 million, per Spotrac.

Burfict joins a long list of NFL players who’ve suffered multiple concussions throughout their career. The biggest question is, will they evaluate him for early onset CTE?

It’s unfortunate that off-field problems and injuries not only set his career off course but, maybe the demise of his play on the field.
