Former seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady has partnered with HBCU direct to launch the HBCU Give 105 initiative, with a goal to raise $105 million dollars for HBCU schools.
“The partnership provides a huge opportunity to use our voice to support the efforts of the nation’s 105 HBCUs to build awareness and attract talent,” McGrady said.
McGrady jump started the effort by donating $105,000.
The HBCU initiative has been developed at a pivotal time, with many HBCU’s across the nation currently entangled in a growing financial crisis. Hopefully T-Mac’s involvement in the effort will encourage more recognizable figures in the the community to come forth and contribute in a manner that will allow HBCU’s to not only survive, but thrive.
