Tom Brady, Josh Gordon Already Breaking Records

When Josh Gordon was released by the Brown and picked up by the Pats, I posed the question: Can Josh Gordon Give The Patriots That Randy Moss Threat They Need?

The embattled wide receiver is already answering that question. Gordon has four catches for 82 yards —  but more importantly, hes averaging 20.5 yards-per-catch in his first two appearances with New England.

In the Patriots 38-24 thrashing of the Colts on Monday Night, Gordon did his best Moss impersonation with his inaugural TD catch as a Pat.

The split screen of Randy Moss and Gordon is eerily similar and there will be many more TDs delivered from Brady if Gordon can keep his body clean and his head on straight. Moss left Minnesota, bounced to Oakland and had two of the worst seasons of his career, bottoming out with 553 receiving yards and 3 TDS, before he joined The Killer Bs in 2007 and started smashing records. With Moss in the mix, Brady threw for an NFL record 50 TD passes. Moss broke the record for most receiving TD catches in a season (23). Together, they formed one of the most prolific offenses of all time and the best of Bradys illustrious career.

TSL predicted the same for Gordon.

Getting released by the Browns and picked up by the Dynasty Patriots is the best thing to happen to the talented but undisciplined receiver who has played just 11 games since he led the NFL in receiving with 1,646 yards in 2013.

Life has a funny way of working itself out…It was time for a change and there couldn’t be a more seismic shift in cultures than going from Cleveland to New England. It might just be what all parties involved needed.

Belichick seems to have a way with disgruntled superstars that are on the decline or a personality risk. He typically ignores the media rumblings about character flaws, brings them into the fold and finds a way to maximize their abilities. Belichick desperately needed to bring some bonafide offensive talent into the fold and give a dry and pedestrian Pats offense the All-Pro boost it needed, so “the rich get richer” applies in this case.

The future is bright for the BGC  (Brady-Gordon Connection) and even if Gordon never catches another ball as a Patriot, he and Bradys careers are permanently intersected in the record books.

The first of two passes Gordon caught from Brady was historic.

With a 34-yard TD strike to Josh Gordon in the 4th quarter, Tom Brady passed Vinny Testaverde for the most different players to have been on the receiving end of one of his TD passes in NFL history.

The TD catch made more history as it was Brady’s 500th career TD pass.

Josh Gordon on his first TD as a Patriot: “To catch any pass from Tom is amazing, let alone some history-making catch or pass. You know, for him, I told him congratulations, and I know there’s many more for him to come.” https://t.co/s6ofPrWWk3 https://t.co/A8xZPk755b

Gordon was one of eight receivers Tom Brady distributed the ball to, but hes sure to be targeted more as the year goes on.
