Three six Mafia founding member, Ricky "Lord Infamous" Dunigan died Friday, in his sleep, at 40 years old. The passing happened at his mother’s house. And although friends and family say he was currently healthy, Dunigan had suffered a stroke and heart attack in 2010.
Lord Infamous began Three 6 Mafia in the early 90s with his uncle, DJ Paul. The younger brother of his mother, Paul and Infamous united with third member Juicy J, to form Three 6 Mafia and drop their debut Mystic Stylez. Over a decade later, in 2005, they became the first hip hop group to win an Oscar – taking home the Best Original Song award for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” which was featured on the soundtrack to the John Singleton film, Hustle and Flow. They performed the single live at the Academy Awards that year with actress Taraji P. Henson singing the hook.
