Panthers have signed safety Eric Reid https://t.co/X58eXxuQAC
Reid was well known for peacefully protesting police brutality and racial inequality alongside then-teammate Colin Kaepernick during the 2016 season. When was Kaepernick was fundamentally blackballed from the league in 2017, the safety continued his protest.
Like Kap, days, weeks, months went by as Reid went unsigned. But as the Carolina Panthers head into NFL Week 4, with an injury-plagued secondary, a change was needed and Reid was free.
Shortly after the news was announced, the Panthers Twitter account put up a picture of Reid signing the paperwork with his fist up.
It was way overdue, but Reid is finally on an NFL team where he belongs.
