The G League Continues To Show And Prove

The G League is launching a new marketing campaign to support the League, Gatorade’s title sponsorship of the League and to let all basketball fans know exactly what the G League is.

We Don’t Go for Good. We Go for Great.

At the NBA G League, next level is the ultimate goal. From players, to coaches, to referees and team staff, striving for the NBA is the priority. Here, in this league, the work never stops. We don’t go for good. We go for great. The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league.

A quick lesson in the League’s history. After the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) went bankrupt in in the late 1990s, then NBA Commissioner David Stern founded the National Basketball Development League (NBDL), which ran from 2001 – 2005, when it was re-branded as the NBA Development League (NBA D-League). The League, known as the D-League, ran from 2005 – 2017, when Gatorade stepped in to become the League’s primary partner and the G League was born.

The G League tips off on Friday, November 3rd and will feature 26 teams, a significant increase from the eight franchises which made up the NBDL in 2001. Headed by a new campaign “We Don’t Go For Good. We Go For Great”, the coach of the year in former NBA veteran Jerry Stackhouse and his League championship team, Raptors 905, the G League is looking to make big things happen this season, and with Gatorade behind them, they have a bright future.
