LeBron James says he is completely cool with the idea of having a women coach at some point in the future. This is a very significant endorsement from the NBA‘s biggest star.
Professional sports leagues are very much an “All Boys Club” and, unfortunately, some players might not be open to the idea of having a woman as a coach. For James, he’s not concerned about whether a person is a man or a woman, he is more focused on whether they’re knowledgeable about the game. “I mean, listen, at the end of the day, basketball … it’s not about male or female. You know the game, you know the game” he told ESPN.

LeBron James would fully embrace having a female coach in the NBA.
LeBron also referenced how being a woman hasn’t stopped reporter and announcer Doris Burke from being one of the best the media has to offer.
“Listen, we have so many female reporters now that know the game and they cover the game,” James continued. “I mean, you look at Doris Burke [Wednesday] night, she’s one of the greatest that we have in our game. She knows the game, so it doesn’t matter.”
With Gregg Popovich hiring Becky Hammon as a full-time female assistant coach and continuing to give her a leadership role along with Nancy Lieberman being named a head coach for one of The Big 3 teams, women are slowly making cracks in that glass ceiling.
