Can Tiger Woods Finally Secure The Bag At The Tour Championship?

We cover Tiger Woods like hes the only golfer in the world whether he wins or loses. The Alpha, Omega and everything in between. Even at the ripe, old age of 42 he brings an aura and excitement to the sport of golf that is unattainable for any other competitor.  Tigers comeback has been well-chronicled and has gained an unstoppable momentum since he finished ninth in the Heros World Challenge in December of 2017 and then embarked on a redemption tour that has returned him to golfs throne this year. By the time Tiger finished a strong sixth at the BMW Championship two weeks ago, he was the only story in the sport.

Hes already regained the hearts, adulation, praise and appreciation of a golf community that once discarded him after an illustrious career befallen by bad choices, injuries and personal struggles. If hes anywhere near the leaderboard on a given Sunday, the entire sports landscape shifts and all eyes turn to Tigers final 18 holes.

Feels like 12, 15 years ago, happily chained to my favorite chair watching the field chase Tiger in a big event on a Saturday afternoon…few things like it.

The man who took over as the face of Nike from Michael Jordan in the late 90s and then fell off the face of the earth, is one of the biggest brands in sports again. Tiger is one throwback Sunday away from clinching his first PGA Tour victory in five years and the 80th of his mythical career.

118 different players have won on the PGA Tour since Tiger’s last victory. 47 have won more than once. 3 players have won 10+ times: DJ (12), Day (11) and Spieth (10).

He’s had some teasers, but this one looks like the real thing. So far Tigers storming towards the bag at the FedEx Cup Tour Championship at East Lake, leading the field by 3 strokes through 54 holes and the world is waiting to see if he can finally close the deal. Hes been in this position in the past and everyone knows he plays better when hes ahead.

Tiger Woods will tee off at 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday. Televised coverage of the Tour Championship will begin at 12:00 p.m. ET on Golf Channel. Coverage will switch to NBC at 1:30 p.m. ET.

It’s been five years since he’s held a 54-hole lead. It’s a position he’s thrived in throughout his career. https://t.co/CJdFYACnLf

The steady improvement Tiger has shown also gives the impression that he is here to stay. Hes been grinding it out and consistently finding himself among the leaders with six Top 10 and two runner-up finishes.Tigers wave is locked in and win or lose, golf fans are already looking forward to seeing him perform in 2019, with a year of game reconstruction already under his belt.

The Vegas oddsmakers are also all in on Tiger and hes now the betting favorite (10 to 1) to win the 2019 Masters, via the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook

The power of Tiger is in full effect at the Tour Championship. Tigers 12 – under with two stars of the post-Tiger Era, Rory Mcllroy and Justin Rose on his heels at 9 -under par. The ghost of PGA legends past has returned and is haunting the current young bloods, challenging the future of the Tour.
