Ain’t A Damn Thing Changed As Tiger Woods Is Still The One To Watch

On Sunday afternoon at the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods shot a 64, his lowest final round ever in a PGA major. Victory was within sight, but he ended up finishing in second behind Brooks Koepka (-16) with a score of -14. It was a throwback Tiger Sunday as the crowd was electric, social media was running wild and the world was pulling for him. So even in defeat he actually won

Tiger’s entire 2018 comeback has been like that.

Tiger Woods wins the 2018 PGA Championship with a score of -14. Brooks Koepka finishes in second at -16.

While that 15th major is still eluding Woods, Tigermania is officially back and those naysayers who proclaimed that the greatest golfer in history was finished when he embarked on his epic comeback at the beginning of this year need to just eat crow and keep silent

Am I the only one who hasn’t moved from the couch since 2:35 watching @TigerWoods???

With four Top 5 finishes in his 14 PGA events this season, Tigers next scheduled PGA Tour event will come in the postseason. Woods has committed to play in the first two events of the FedExCup playoffs, beginning with the Northern Trust (Aug. 23-26) at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J.

According to sportingnews.com, following the Northern Trust, Woods is scheduled to compete in the Dell Technologies Championship (Aug. 31-Sept. 3), at the least. Woods said he hopes to also play in the Ryder Cup in Paris in late-September if hes selected as a player.

The miraculous transformation and reinvigoration of Woods hit near epic levels on Sunday. Woods stood four shots off the lead entering the final round of the PGA Championship and he was playing insane golf and fans knew they were watching something special.

Tiger Woods just made 8 birdies in the final round of a major, wearing his trademark red and black. I was there to see it. It really happened. In 2018. Just tremendous theater.

The stars finally appeared to be aligned for Woods to capture that elusive major that hes been pursuing for the last five years. Woods last victory on the PGA Tour his 79th came on Aug. 4, 2013, at the 2013 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Back in January, the thought of Woods actually competing at a high enough level to win a major was far-fetched. Fast forward to August and hes about as much of a sure shot to be in the championship mix every time he steps on the greens as hes ever been.

Tiger Woods: 196 (66-66-64) over last 3 rounds; his lowest score across 54 holes of a major in his career by 4 shots

Tiger is still one of the most captivating athletes in sports and a living legend with few competitors in that category. It took a Tigeresque performance from winner Brooks Koepka to hold off Woods and secure the championship but now he’s officially put everyone on notice that he’s back.

As was the case in the previous 13 other PGA events Tiger participated in this season, Koepkas performance was overshadowed by Tigers comeback saga and Woods will be the only name anyone remembers when fans recall the 2018 PGA Championship.
