British director Steve McQueen is reportedly prepping a sitcom about the black experience for BBC television. The acclaimed 12 Years a Slave director told reporters the offering will be a dramatic portrayal that will be set in West London and will span the timeframe between the late 60s through present day.
"I don’t think there has been a serious drama series in Britain with black people from all walks of life as the main protagonists," McQueen told the UK’s Daily Mail.
The project is still in its early phases and will be developed throughout the year.
