Serena Williams Wins The Wimbledon Title

Serena Williams did it again.

This morning the #1 ranked player in the world defeated Garbine Muguruza in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, en route to her fifth Wimbledon title.

But this victory, which puts her another step closer towards GOAT status, was by no means perfect. She double faulted three times in the match’s first game and Muguruza landed four break-point opportunities, succeed on her fourth chance.

Yet the Champion battled back. While appearing frustrated, often times yelling at herself to perform better, Serena eventually put it all together and got it going. She won the match’s third game and broke Muguruza in the eighth game of the set to knot up the set at four games apiece.

After that, Williams exerted control and took over. She overpowered Muguruza and used her momentum to eventually seal the victory, completing the “Serena Slam” and winning three-fourths of the Calendar Slam. Next up, the US Open.

“I can’t believe I’m standing here with another Serena Slam,” Williams said after the match.

And another step towards GOAT status.
