Ray Rice Wins Appeal, Can Return Immediately

It is being reported that embattled running back Ray Rice has won his appeal and the NFL has overturned his indefinite suspension. By winning his appeal Rice can make his return right away to any team looking to pick up the controversial player. U.S. District Judge, Barbara S. Jones stated that Rice did not lie or mislead NFL Commissioner Goodell. Jones also said that “the Commissioner needed to be fair and consistent in his imposition of discipline” alluding to Goodell’s reactionary response after a large public outcry.

After originally being suspended for two games, Goodell then suspended Rice indefinitely after TMZ published the video tape of Rice punching his fiance in an Atlantic City casino elevator, putting him in double jeopardy. Rice believes the NFL and Commissioner Goodell knew about his incident and had all of information presented to them when Goodell handed down his original two game suspension.

While there are lots of teams in the NFL who could use a good running back, how many teams would be willing to risk a huge moral dilema and PR blunder for Rice’s second chance? After all that's occurred this season, it seems highly unlikely that any team would approach Rice.
