Providence Stuns Xavier In Big East Overtime Semifinal Showdown

In a true you had to be there moment, Madison Square Garden was a madhouse as the Providence Friars overcame and shocked Xavier in an overtime victory in the 2018 Big East Tournament semifinal round Friday night, March 9th. 

The ability to show and prove transforms great players into tourney legends and Providences Kyron Cartwright blacked out in the second half and in overtime.

With two nights in a row of dominant play under his belt, the Compton native was almost speechless when describing his final stretch that included a dunk, jumper, and clutch free throws to seal the win.  

I don’t know what happened out there. It just happened. 

The jumper was just being aggressive, making a play. I created a little bit of space and seniors have to step up to the moment and help the team. And I thought I did that tonight. And I’m going to try to do that tomorrow night and hopefully try to will my team to a championship.
