Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Dez Bryant Released By Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have decided to release three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant who was projected to make $12.5 million this season. Bryant finishes his tumultuous but highly productive Cowboys career as the franchises all-time leader in TD receptions with 73. He was a personal favorite of owner Jerry Jones who reportedly met with Bryant this morning to part ways because the two sides couldnt come to a financial compromise. Now it’s a wrap. Bryant was seen exiting the compound in his Bentley, smiling and ready to move on to his next team at just 29-years old.

He then basically told the Cowboys to kiss his ass on Twitter, which makes you think this has come as a bit of a shock to Dez who signed a five-year $70 million deal in 2014 after leading the league with 16 TD grabs. Hs production has dropped over the past three years as he averaged just 678 yards per season and missed 10 games due to injury.

After gathering his composure a bit Bryant clarified the tone of the first Tweet.

Cowboy nation I need you to know this wasn’t my decision.. I will always love y’all… forever Dallas in my heart

The Cowboys have cleared up cap space with the move and will undoubtedly be receiver hunting in the 2018 draft with Cole Beasley and unproven Allen Hurns left to man a weakened receiving core.

For that reason, Deion Sanders thought it was a terrible idea. So did LaDainian Tomlinson, who said on NFL Network that the Cowboys should have released Dez sooner, during free agency so hed have a bunch of teams vying for his services.

Now,” says LT, “he may have two or three teams where he might have had 10. Dez is a guy that he instantly makes you better if you add him to your roster. Yes, we all decline with age but he hasn’t declined to the point of not being able to play. He can play, hes a baller.

Deion Sanders thinks Dez should have thought twice about lowering his demands because the baggage that comes with him isn’t for everybody.

Jerry Jones does a wonderful job of insulating his players and giving them the resources they need to be comfortable,” Sanders said on NFL Network. “We know Dez has a propensity to be tardy. We don’t know if another organization is going to condone that.

Maybe not, but 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns in a season everyone is calling terrible won’t stop teams from finding out.
