PRITTY LEFT HOOK: Floyd Mayweather Shows His Trump Card

As the riots and unrest roil on in America, one thing is clear: Donald Trump is not the most popular elected President in recent history.

With the fear and anxiety most of the country feels at this time toward an untested politician on any level, it is interesting to see that some celebrities are asking us to embrace the real estate mogul turned reality television star despite his political shortcomings.

From Shaquille ONeal to Mike Tyson and Russell Simmons, countless celebrities of color have joined the bandwagon, letting us know that Trump has the same penchant of a botched style over substance  a la Dame Dash. Simmons actually wrote his friend a letter congratulating him on the win, but asking him to watch the company he keeps and admonishing him for having Mike Pence and Rudy Giuliani on his team.

This week, another long-time friend in Floyd Money Mayweather came out to show President-elect Trump some support.

On Wednesday Mayweather was in New York attending a news conference to announce a January 14th super middleweight unification fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn between WBC champion Badou Jack and IBF champion James DeGale. Jack is a Mayweather Promotions fighter.

Were back, Mayweather said at the news conference. What other better city to be in than New York City? It was always one of my dreams to fight in New York City. Im glad Im in a position to put fighters out there to give the fans what they want to see. New York City is the best place for boxing.

During the visit, Floyd scored some face time with Donald Trump, Sr. and Jr., the latter of which tweeted the meeting for all to see. This comes during a time when Mayweather also got into some hot water for his comments about Colin Kaepernicks stance on the National Anthem.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation and Mayweather Promotions are inviting  local families in the Las Vegas community to their annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway this Saturday. Mayweather has been renowned for his charitable efforts that go relatively under the radar.

He does the annual Mayweather Classic, a childrens basketball classic at Ottawa Hills High School in Michigan, where he once attended. He also does a larger celebrity basketball game in Los Angeles for charity with Team Watson, the logistical arm of his adviser Al Haymon’s empire. The people who are always around Mayweather are a mix of friends and close associates, many of which he has invested in their clothing stores, barbershops or transportation businesses.

The enigmatic personality of Mayweather fluctuates between unapologetically black and brash, to a confused pop culture icon that lives in the bubble of excess.

Many in the Twitter-verse are calling Trump and Mayweather strange bedfellows and compatriots.

What was said in the mystery meeting with Trump is only ones guess, but one can only think that in retirement, Money May is looking towards larger clout with his newly elected President pal.
