Packers WR Randal Cobb Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Leg

Injuries hit every team, but it seems like the Green Bay Packers, for whatever reason, get hit a little harder. The injuries they sustain don’t happen to marginal players either, they tend to happen to guys they are counting on. Offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga was lost in the preseason, last week Clay Matthews suffered an injury that will keep him out a month and now both James Jones and Randall Cobb are injured.

From ESPN:

Cobb, who leads the Packers with 29 receptions, sustained his injury when he was hit in the right leg by Ravens safety Matt Elam in the second quarter. Cobb did not return to the game and used crutches on the sideline.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confronted Elam after the play. After the game, Rodgers said he thought Elam could have avoided taking a shot at Cobb's knee.

While Jones may be able to suit up for Green Bay’s next game, Cobb, their best receiver, is out up to two months with a broken leg. They’ll maintain as best they can, but injuries have become a running theme not only this year, but over the last couple of seasons. Championship windows can close quickly and already the Packers have fallen behind teams like Seattle and San Fran. Not to mention, their own NFC North rivals Detroit and Chicago, are both on the upswing.  Aaron Rodgers is gonna have to do a lot more “Aaron Rodgers things” in order to keep the house from crashing down.
