Niners’ Kaepernick To Undergo Shoulder Surgery; Season Over

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been placed on season ending injury reserve after informing the team that he would like to have surgery to repair his injured left shoulder.

The placement of Kaepernick on the IR will end an extremely disappointing season for the former franchise quarterback, as he struggled to transition from a running QB to a pocket passer. He was benched last week in favor of Blaine Gabbert after losing to the Rams in Week nine.

Kaepernick most likely has played his last game in San Francisco. He appears to have lost his confidence and swagger that allowed him to have a breakout season in 2012, coming a few plays short of winning the Super Bowl that year. However, he is still young and talented and there should be teams lining up to give him another shot.
