Last night the Mets made their fans very happy as they re-signed power hitting center fielder Yoenis Cespedes.

According to Jon Heyman, the Mets agreed to a three-year contract with Cespedes worth $75 million. The deal, pending a physical, includes an opt-out after year one.

The 30 year old Cespedes comes off a 2015 season in which he batted .291/.328/.542 with 35 homers for the Tigers and Mets. He also won his first career Gold Glove and made the World Series this past season. For his career, Cespedes has averaged 30 homers and 35 doubles per 162 games played.

The Mets had to battle rumors of Cespedes signing with other teams, including their division rivals, the Washington Nationals. But in the end the Mets re-signed the big bat which helped them make the post-season last year. After acquiring him from the Tigers, he hit .287 with 17 home runs in 57 games. While his bat basically went silent in the post-season, particularly in the World Series, the Mets are hoping his bat thrives like it did towards the end of the season so they can make another run at a World Series crown.
