Kanye West was sentenced on Monday for a misdemeanor count of battery stemming from a scuffle that occurred in July 2013 with a paparazzi photographer at LAX Airport. The rapper entered a no contest plea via his attorney in front of Judge Alan Rubin.
West’s sentencing includes 2 years of probation, 24 anger management classes, 250 hours of community service, and he must also pay restitution to the victim. Judge Rubin stated that he would personally check into West’s community service hours to make sure the star was not receiving any special treatment.
The victim has also filed a civil suit against West, stating, “I was only doing my job, and he broke the law. I believe that if I did what he did to me, I would have been put behind bars.”
