Actor Jesse L. Martin has signed on to play Detective West on the CW series The Flash, which is based on the DC Comics hero of the same name. His character is being described as a “trustworthy father figure” to Grant Gustin's (Glee) character. David Nutter (The X-Files) will direct the pilot, which was written by DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and Green Arrow's Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti. Martin is best remembered for his 9 year run as Detective Ed Green on Law & Order: SVU from 1999 to 2008. His name is currently attached to the unfinished, and untitled, Marvin Gaye biopic in which he is cast as the lead.
