Jerry Jones Can’t Lasso Dez Bryant and Demarco Murray Under The Salary Cap

Executive of the Year or not, Jerry Jones can’t figure out what to do with DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant. The cap number math for both players doesn’t bode well and Jones isn’t oblivious to the reality facing him.

The impending free agency of right tackle Doug Free and linebacker Rolando McClain are minor obstacles, but still remain obstructions. Dallas reportedly has dangled a $16 million, four-year deal in front of Murray. Bryant will likely be franchised if they can’t come to terms on a deal, but in either case he’ll be rewarded with an exorbitant salary either this season or next because of his age and production at a position that offers more longevity.

The pounding Murray took en route to a career year took some of the responsibility off of Tony Romo’s shoulders and surgically-repaired back, but if there’s a choice to be made, Murray will be the odd man out.
