Jay Z Buys A $4.5 Million Basqiat, Signs Jeezy To Roc Nation

Jay Z might already be counting that Robinson Cano money, as the hip-hop, sports and fashion mogul made some expensive moves recently.

He and Jeezy have always had a good relationship, but the same cannot be said for Jeezy's relationship with his label, Def Jam. Jeezy recently took to Twitter recently demanding action from his label, claiming his album has been ready to go but Def Jam won't release it. Though Jeezy is dropping a mixtape, It's The World 2, on Nov 27, he also threatened to release his album for his fans anyway if Def Jam didn't step up.

That's where Hov stepped in. He brought Jeezy's Corporate Thugz Entertainment over to Roc Nation, which is still affiliated with Universal Music Group, who also own Def Jam.

To celebrate, Jay picked up a $4.5 million Basqiat named "Mecca," that looks like it coulda been the artwork for his "Empire State of Mind" single. Here's a photo of the painting, courtesy of Complex.
