Jay Cutler Ruled Out For Bears-Cowboys on MNF

Bears fans were hopeful that Jay Cutler would make his return to the field in a key Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, after the Chicago slinger was able to practice with the team on Thursday afternoon.

Unfortunately it was a bit of a tease, as coach Marc Trestman announced after the practice that backup QB Josh McGowan would start his fourth game in a row. Trestman added that any work Culter was able to put in with his groin injury and subsequent high ankle sprain would be to get him up to speed for Week 15.

The injury hasn't been as costly as imagined, since McGowan has performeed admirably in Cutler's place. Still, the Bears would much prefer to have Cutler for the final few games.

Cutler is probably eager to get back on the field as well. He is in the final year of his contract, and will need to show his team that he's ready for the long haul, or impress other suitors.
