Brandon Weeden’s 15 minutes of fame are just about done according to Sports Illustrated. Jason Campbell was given the start for the Week 8 game vs. the Chiefs.
From Sports Illustrated :
Weeden, the No. 22 pick in last year’s draft, held the No. 1 QB job entering the season despite posting a 5-10 record in that role last year. But he struggled again in Weeks 1 and 2 before a thumb injury sidelined him in Week 3. That opened the door for Brian Hoyer, who stepped in and guided the Browns to three straight wins. Hoyer then suffered a season-ending ACL injury, prompting Chudzinski to turn back to Weeden.
Two more defeats changed the coach’s mind.
The rather unbelievable side note in all of this: Campbell, an eight-year NFL vet, is just one year older than Weeden — 31 years to 30. So giving Campbell control of the offense is not quite the mortgage of the future it would be in places like New York (Geno Smith), Buffalo (EJ Manuel) or Miami (Ryan Tannehill).
