Variety is reporting that Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix has finaly abandoned his floundering rap career and is being coveted by Warner Brothers to star as archrival Lex Luther in the upcoming, and as yet untitled, Superman/Batman film. It is unclear at this point whether Phoenix, who is currently appearing in Her, will accept the role. He is notorious for steering clear of big budget projects, and superhero films always go big in attempting to become blockbusters. The film will be the first to feature two primary DC Comics characters in a single film and will open in July 2015.
