“I Think It’s Pretty Cool” | Heisman Trophy Winner Caleb Williams Welcomes Patrick Mahomes Comparisons

Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Caleb Williams has heard all the comparisons being made between himself and Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The dynamic USC Trojans signal-caller welcomes all of the hype.

And there’s no shortage of experts who will support these lofty comparisons. World-renowned quarterback coach Tom House is one of them. During House’s recent appearance on “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” House was quoted as saying Williams will be “the second coming of Patrick Mahomes.”

House also praised the decision-making and accuracy of Williams, a Bowie, Maryland, native.

Tom House Compares Caleb Williams To Patrick Mahomes

Williams, who’s never been short on confidence, recently responded to House’s comments. During an interview last week with Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio, Williams spoke highly of Mahomes, but also let it be known that he feels he can do anything “Mr Ketchup On Errthang” can do.

“It’s pretty cool, I’d say, just because everybody watches Patrick and sees all the cool things that he can dol” Williams said. “I always said even in high school that … I don’t think there’s anything that I can’t do that he’s doing out there.”

That’s a really great comparison for the reigning Heisman winner. In fact, he and Mahomes are built alike, have rocket arms and display wizardry in and out of the pocket weekly.

Caleb Williams Becomes First USC Player To Win Heisman Since 2005

The true sophomore gunslinger who followed his coach Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma to USC was the best player in college football this season. Williams led the USC Trojans to an 11-2 record, with both losses coming to the Utah Utes. CW torched defenses on his way to joining the Heisman fraternity, passing for over 4,000 yards, 37 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Showing his game-breaking skills weekly, he also rushed for nearly 400 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Caleb Williams Is First USC Heisman Winner Since Reggie Bush

In doing so he became the first USC player to be awarded since the great Reggie Bush in 2005, although Bush’s award still remains vacated.

Williams was grateful for the award, and he also showed how much of a team player he is. During his acceptance speech, he talked about how the other three finalists, TCU QB Max Duggan, Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud, and UGA QB Stetson Bennett are all playing for something bigger.

“I may be standing up here today, but y’all get to go to the College Football Playoff. Guess you can’t win them all.”

That right there is all you need to know about this year’s Heisman winner and the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He’s a team-first guy, and he’ll have another opportunity to lead the Trojans to the playoffs in what will be his final season in college football.

In the meantime, being compared to Patrick Mahomes just further positions Williams to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
