Good Morning: 12.6.12

GOOD MORNING

Kobe Bryant broke the 30,000 point milestone yesterday, becoming the youngest player to reach the landmark, as the Lakers cruised to victory over New Orleans.

Meanwhile, the Lakers are rebuffing offers for Pau Gasol.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant were named players of the month for November, while Damian Lillard and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist were named rookies of the month.

David Stern levied a $250,000 fine at the San Antonio Spurs for resting players against the Miami Heat.

Around this time last year, Gabby Douglas nearly quit gymnastics to work at Chick fil A.

Does anyone want to coach at Tennessee? Louisville's Charlie Strong and UNC's Larry Fedora both turn down offers for the Vols top spot.

Lionel Messi is a goal away from equalling a 40-year old record, but injured his knee yesterday against Benfica. Barcelona assures fans it's just a knee contusion, however.

J.R. Smith steps back and walks off.

Chris Kaman went up for a block. Caron Butler had none of it.

FLASHING LIGHTS

Joey Bada$$ talks the Pro Era tape, 1999, and what's next.

Hope Trina wasn't too hungover from her birthday bash in Miami this week: she was hit with a $50 million suit for failing to make an appearance for a contest with a top prize of $20k. Just typing that gave me a slight headache.

Snoop hosted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on reddit last night, and was extremely open and candid, naturally sparking (yup) some controversy.

Chrissy Teigen was born to wear a bikini.

The Grammy nominations were handed out last night. Here's a complete list.

It also handed out the worst live performance of anything ever. All in good fun, I know, but damn.

E-40, Too $hort and Wiz with some weed, women and Henny.

DID YOU REALIZE?

Marijuana was legalized in Washington yesterday, as crowds gathered at midnight to spark up in celebration. Though citizens were warned by the police that smoking in public is still against the law, they granted everyone a pass last night. Beautiful.

Same sex marriage was also legalized in Washington. It now appears Washington is the happiest state in the union. Just look at that couple.

John Boehner's support within his own party is growing for the ongoing fiscal negociations, despite one Representative's comments that, “I don't think we have much leverage.” Yup, just keep digging those trenches. Hopefully we can just pile dirt over the top.

Support for Boehner's plan does not come from Tom Coburn, who said he would support higher taxes for wealthiest Americans. How sad is it that a politician crossing party lines is now the lead story on CNN?

Paul Ryan has had a rough return to politics. He was seen as the future of the GOP, but his policies align with older Republicans whose policies were soundly defeated at the polls on the national scale. What to do?

U.S. approved weapons fell into the hands of terrorists. When will our officials realize this is a bad idea?

Besse Cooper, the worlds oldest person, died at 116 yesterday.

EVERYTHING I AM

Plaxico Burress speaks with USA Today about guns, and says the problem isn't with the NFL but society as a whole.

GOTTA HAVE IT

Pusha-T is putting out more and more music with his mixtape set to come out soon. Here's “Blocka” with Popcaan and Travis Scott.
