Fault in Our Stars beat Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow, for the number one opening spot this weekend at the box office. The Fault in our Stars, based off the best-selling novel, is a beautiful, well-written, drama meets romantic comedy about finding humor and love in the un-promised moments of life. It opened with $48.2 million. While Cruise’s sci-fi action flick Edge of Tomorrow opened at number three grossing $29.1 million domestically. Disney’s Maleficent took the number two spot in its second week of release grossing $33.5 million.
Edge of Tomorrow fared a bit better overseas grossing $82 million internationally, including $11.5m overseas in IMAX alone. Worldwide Edge has made a total of $140 million nearly reaching its $175 million production budget.
